Collision repair indicates that it is an accident and Body shops make money for the dealers because it is not a big warranty drain. So it is up to you or the insurance company to come up with a car.

Most shops can't afford to lose money by giving out free loaner/rental cars for more than a few days...that is why insurance companies offer rental coverage for your insurance policy. It's a great deal but most agents don't push it because by law they have to offer it although they lose money on it...usually runs around 40.00 per year for coverage and it pays for itself in a couple days of use. I highly recommend getting the coverage.
If the accident was not your fault, then the other party's insurance should pay for it....usually, 30 days is the max they will pay for.
I've had customers with cars in the shop for 3-4 weeks and had to pay for a rental themselves...pretty expensive way to find out too late to have the coverage. Tell all your friends too.

Depends. If is a newer car and under warranty, then the deal/warranty provider may give you a rental. If not, many insurance companies provide rentals as well, but you will have to check your policy with them to see.

It depends on the shop, but from my experience, no. But if the shop owner is your friend or he have extra car, probably yes.

Not in my experience. That is not a service they provide. Do you have a rental provision in your auto insurance? That would give you some reimbursement of rental expense, although often not complete compensation.

you usually have to have that in your insurance policy to get a loaner car paid for while your car is being fixed unless someone else hit you and then their insurance should pay for a loaner for you.
