What would you say to him. A radiator is a metal rectangular container under the hood that is used to cool the engine. Thanks.

"dumb **** - you're supposed to use anti-freeze"
However, if the radiator has a leak somewhere maybe it does need some water and not just anti freeze or coolant. I had an old car twenty years ago I had to put water in just about every other day so the engine wouldn't sieze. Some gift an ex boyfriend gave me huh?

I'd tell him to either add antifreeze, or else leave that car running until April. If that plain water freezes, it can crack the block on the engine, and ruin it.

If he's lucky, it will just push the freeze plugs out, and the car will just overheat the next time he runs it.

you could desire to constantly use distilled water - no longer faucet water (faucet water has too lots different crap in it) - blended with antifreeze on the cautioned ratio (often approximately 50/50). in case you fill with merely water, then whilst the engine cools the water freezes and expands (as water does whilst it turns to ice) then it may crack your engine block, could desire to break your radiator, and so on. the wear could desire to be catastrophic. With antifreeze in it, the freezing factor of the blended fluid is a lot decrease and it would not freeze at well-known low temperatures, and consequently won't harm your engine and cooling equipment.
