When I park my car it makes this noise that I cant explain, sounds like a screaching, loud, annoying sound, what can that be? I dont hear it all when I am driving, only when I am backing my car up. When I press on the brakes while backing up the noise stops, once I let go it starts up again, does anybody have any idea? Anything I should look for, suggest I should do, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Brake pads wear in when driving forward , however you go into reverse in some cases the pads align differently in the caliper and as pads are not spring loaded rub loosely on the disc this can cause screaching the same is true with brake shoes ,they have a leading and trailing edge which can act completely different when the drum rotates backwards. Try replacing brakes with a good quality material and bed them in slowly not erraticly

If you are not hearing the noise whilst driving forward it probably isn't your brakes binding (sticking on) It may be a problem on either your reverse gear, cv joints or wheel bearings to find out properly get someone to stand outside and listen so the exact location of the noise can be found, at the back would suggest bearings in the middle could be cv joint (if rear wheel drive) front suggests gearbox problems.

Get your brakes checked - something is amiss there.
