I need to buy tubing to replace my brake lines on my truck this weekend on the way home but I'm not sure if it's 1/4 or 3/16. It's the line that runs the length of the body to the back brakes. 1994 F-150

I live in Arizona and I use the A/C in my car ALL the time, why should I even turn it off? My husband yells at me that I need to turn the A/C, and the radio off in the car before I start the car up because it is hard on the car. I dont think It is doing the car any damage or is really all that "hard on the car". Other advice would be nice on this subject...

Could overheating an engine make the engine use more/excessive engine oil (motor oil)?

BTW, my engine spec VW Lupo 1.4 litre 16V (petrol) and does the coolant temperature sensor controls the radiator fan on this particular model because I haven't noticed the fan being switched on in a while?

I am trying to decide which color of exhaust wrap to get: tan or black. Intuitively, it would seem that black would be the better color since it holds more heat, but does it really matter? I would be wrapping the exhaust manifold and downtube of my car.

I bought a used Hyundai from a Hyundai dealership and am wondering if dealerships are supposed to run thorough inspections of their vehicles before they sell them. Do they replace the oil, transmission fluids, spark plugs, etc. before they put them on the lot? Or do they just assume everything is in excellent shape? Should I just follow the maintenance schedule in the handbook and assume the previous owner kept up with the maintenance schedule (and the dealership verified this) or go out and have everything checked out just to be sure?

I have a 98' grand Am with 167,000 miles on it.
When the ignition is turned to the start position. there is no sound, although alllights work and function nice and bright. turn the key off, then turn to the start position again, the engine hesitates and starts rather slowly. There is a hint of clicking before it starts. The car for a while now has been starting slowly, even with new batt and alternator. What could be the problem? Any suggestions are welcome. I believe that the battery and charging systems are ok.

Hi, I have recently bought and am in the process of fixing up an 84' Porsche 944. My goal is to get it set up for racing in a few years. I'm wondering if I can have it start up using a button start like in real race cars. A lot of times when I watch racing on TV, the drivers flip some switches and then hold down a button to start their cars. I'm wondering why this is used? Also, I would like to have this in my car just for a show effect and to make it like a real race car.
What would I first need to be able to do this? I'd appreciate it if someone could answer these questions.

I had many ocassions when I accidentally changed gears and didn't put my foot on the clutch properly therefore making this loud 'crunch' noise when changing gears. If this happened again and again, what would be the consequences?

I have a 1998 Ford Contour, V6, 92000 miles. Usually, my car shifts gears pretty well and I just feel it a little bit like you do on most cars. But, whenever I accelerate really quickly (like pulling out very fast from a stop sign) the transmission shifts really hard and the car sort of jerks as it shifts. After that initial jerk, the car runs fine and acts normal. What does this mean?

This problem doesn't always happen. Sometimes the engine is so quiet you cant hear it. sometimes it is racing. When it is in a "mood" it will cut out regardless. ie, when stationary and the gears are in neutral. changing down gears from third to second, changing from first to reverse, making it very hard to park. It does it whether its first thing in the morning or even at the end of a long drive. Other times it is very smooth and quiet and to be honest a lovely drive. We cannot put a proper routine to it or work it out. I am suspicious of maybe a fuel blockage, or muck in the carb. Any suggestion will be helpful. We took it to a vauxhall dealer and he recommended changing the rocker cover and breather pipes. So we did do, and we changed the spark plugs too, but it still does it. Please help!

I parked under a tree at school and it dripped sap onto my windshield. At first i thought it was droplets of water so i turned my wiper blades on. Unfortunately it just smeared the sap across and made it worse. Can anyone help? I don't want to go out and buy something special, are there any home-remedies i could do?
