How do I remove my gas cap lid , threads destroyed, ( some one opened it , stold all the gas , can't drive it to town, it is (EMPTY ) the cap is ........LOCKED , the threads of lock , destroyed , put the key in , just spins around , can't get it off . It is a Chev. Van . Please help. T.K.J. Thel

Jab a flat head screwdriver into the key hole and make the thing unlock. Don't just twist it off while it's locked or you could mess up the end of your gas fill tube and those are not cheap. Once you get it off just go and get a new one. Hope this works for you.

I think you should call a lock smith. That would be the most safe. Remember ther is probably gas fumes inside the tank and this is more dangerious that a full tank of gas. Dont start beating on the cap.

My dad was talking the other day about how when thieves see a lock on your fuel filler they just drill holes in your gas tank and put a pan underneath your car. I guess it's good that you just need a locksmith now and not a whole new gas tank!

Vice Grips... Clamp it on and force it off.. Then get a new one
