I live in Arizona and I use the A/C in my car ALL the time, why should I even turn it off? My husband yells at me that I need to turn the A/C, and the radio off in the car before I start the car up because it is hard on the car. I dont think It is doing the car any damage or is really all that "hard on the car". Other advice would be nice on this subject...

Unless the radio is installed on an always hot circuit (meaning that you can turn it on when the key is off) the radio is not on when you turn the key to the start (not run) position.

The fan motor and A/C clutch power are also off when the key is in the start position.

Your radio and A/C are actually off when you start the car, no matter where you have the controls!

Your husband is wrong. It is not hard on the engine at all.

If you were to turn on the headlights prior to cranking the engine, that woule put extra strain on the battery, but what you are doing is perfectly fine.

Tell your husband that he can do what he wants, but you are not going to follow his advice on this matter unless he can show you real proof. (there is none!!)

No its quiet all right , When we crank them up at the factory everything is on sometimes, Lights, radio, A/C. Blinker everything , It will not hurt a thing, However after a few miles and your battery is about 2 years old I would recommend keeping the lights off when cranking, I live in Ga. When I get in my truck the A/C is on . hope this helps.

Not bad for the car, but why place any more stress on a cold starting vehicle. Leaving the AC on obviously puts more labor on the cranking engine, plus there is an annoyance factor here as well.

Starting up your car and being confronted with a blaring radio or roaring fan can be unnerving a bit. I suspect this is why this is annoying your Husband.

This will not damage the car but it requires more power from the car battery at initial start up. This will reduce the battery life in the car over the long haul.
