I have a '98 cavalier and the power steering is leaking. It's left a mark on the ground where I park it and it looks like it's landing right below the reservoir and pump. How hard would it be to at least diagnose and maybe fix the problem? (For two people with access to the right tools and who are fairly mechanically inclined that is.) I'm just trying to get some *intelligent opinions* on if this is something along the lines of rebuilding a transmission kinda hard or replacing the oil pan kinda hard.

I cannot get to the battery as the lock wont open on the key, and the battery is too drained to operate the central locking. so i can't seem to start it, anyone got any ideas?

the only thought i had was to put a charger to the main positive wires into the alternator to get some charge to the battery to trigger the central locking.

are there any jump / charge points under the bonet?

I just recently purchased a used car from Carmax and noticed that the air conditioning wasn't that cold. When i took it to Carmax to have them recharge the A/C for free, a typical repair that was covered under the purchase agreement, the tech working on my car didn't even bother to do any sort of diagnostic test of the A/C. He told me the A/C temp was fine. in his words, "If you turn on the A/C and the recycle interior cabin air together, your fingers should feel a biting after just a few seconds holding it up to the A/C vents." I feel like I got taken advantage of. Did I? What should I do in the future when I get an auto repair technician who I think is giving me crappy service and trying to take advantage of me?

got a used dodge 97 stratus. made noise right after we changed the oil. Told it had really thick oil in it and that was masking the problem. Continued to drive it because no one could tell us what the definate problem was. Check engine light came on and we went to auto zone and they checked why the light was on. Their machine said cylinders were misfiring. Now the noise is REALLY bad and a guy from our church says the rods blew the engine and we'll have to replace the entire engine. We took out a loan and paid full market value for this stupid car. We can't afford $2000+ for a new engine. What else can we do?!

last night my car was working just fine and this morning when I went to turn it on it would not start. The battery is good because all the lights turn on and my windows roll up & down. It makes the same noise it always does when it starts but it won't start it just makes that "er er er er" noise. What can I do?

I have a 2001 chevy tahoe, I just replaced the battery. Now the anti-theft system goes off every time I open the doors, sometimes it won't allow my truck to start, and I have to disconnect and reconnect the battery, and in doing that the truck starts on its own, without a key. What the hell is going on?

My car just passed an emissions test a few days ago but today I heard a loud knocking sound when I started my car. I checked the oil level and it was fine. The only fluid that was low was the trans fluid. Everyone I talked to in the past also talked about how great my motor sounds. What could it be? Is it my engine? If is how much will the parts or part cost? I have a 1994 Oldmobile Delta 88 Royale. Thanks in advance

I've heard you need to replace all 4 at a time so they match. This one tire is causing a slight shimmy which is starting to drive me nuts. My mechanic said it's ok to leave as is until I replace my tires, but I don't know how old mine are or when I'll need to replace them either. Help!

I already know it is not the condensor or compressor or anything else in the AC system itself. Those all work fine. It is just the blower motor or something connected to it that is not working. When it first broke, I could get the a/c to blow out a little by banging really hard on the dash board. It was not as hard as it should have been, but at least it worked. Now that won't even work. My questions are: 1) Is it the blower motor or could it be something cheaper/simpler than the blower motor? 2) If it is the blower motor, where the hell is the little sucker? 3) How much should it cost, parts and labor to repair it if I can't do it myself (which is a safe bet?) thanks!!!!

My car has a dummy light to remind me to change my oil. The manual says it detects when the oil is dirty and needs to be changed and turns on the light.

Up until recently, my light would only come on every 5,000-7,000 miles. But for my last 2 oil changes, it has come on before 3,000. The first time I thought it was a fluke, but the second time has me worried.

Could it just be the dirty oil sensor that is malfunctioning? Or could my oil be getting dirty faster? Should I disable the light and ignore it and just change my oil as often as my oil says to?

I have a Murray riding mower with a 17hp Briggs and Stratton v twin engine. When the mower is cold it will start just fine and run great for about 30 mins. After about 30 mins it will start running bad and missing. I have to pull the choke to keep it running. After the choke has been pulled it will run good for awhile but eventually it dies. Once it dies it will not start back up until it is cool. Once it cools down completely it will start back up work perfect for about 30 mins then start doing the same thing over again. I have tried changing the spark plugs, did not help. I checked them after the mower died and they do not have a lot of carbon buildup or anything. The air filter is fine also.

I am going to try cleaning the carburetor next since that seems like that would cause the choke problem but i don't understand why it starts working perfect after it cools down. Thanks for your help.

I just bought an '88 used car which has been sitting out in the sun for a few years. It has what looks like mold and rust on the sunroof windshield and I don't know what I can use to get it off. Any suggestions on a heavy duty windshield cleaner?

I live in wisconsin, so naturally that salt on the road in the winters eats away at your car untill it gets through the paint, and starts eating the metal. Is there a way to stop, or atleast slow down the Rust? its mostly around the wheel wells. and is only about 1/2" in diameter.

Thanks in advance!

PS, have a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2 door.
