I need to know where it is located so I can replace my friends filter.

The fuel filter is located on the drivers side near the back wheel on the bottom of the car in a bracket. hope that helps you. its on the inside of the frame rail

if it has a mechanical fuel pump then it might be near the engine near the fuel pump, lower right of the engine. If it is an electric fuel pump then it is located near the fuel tank, if you follow the lines and still don't find it then it is possible that the fuel filter is in the tank with the fuel pump.

should be eather at the left rear rail by the front of rear left tire or on the frame rail in front of car by where floor meets fire wall left side

Wherever it's harder to get to and where the lines and fittings corrode faster - under the vehicle, gm way.
