2 months ago I had him install a used engine on my Audi A4. He had it finished within a couple of weeks, but then he said the engine was misfiring on one cylinder. He said he has tested everything except the wiring harness, but he can't test it because he doesn't have the tester since it's really expensive (he says). So he wants me to buy a used or new engine wiring harness to supposedly fix the problem. Should I do it, or just cut my losses and take it elsewhere? It is now 2 months since the car has been in the shop, my bill is over 5K and my car is not running yet.

Ok so I think I narrowed it down to why my jeeps is still overheating. I replaced the thermostat and fan clutch with no luck, so here is what it is doing...I turn it on when its cold and it warms up fine. As it gets to the point of the thermostat opening up, it opens normally and keeps the temperature normal. At the same time the expansion tank that holds extra fluid completley drains into the motor and the temp. goes back down to 195 momentarely so I know the water pump is working fine. As it goes through the motor, the temp spikes again well past 210 and the water comes back into the expansion chamber boiling and steam comes out of the cap. After it cools I check the cap and the pressure almost shoots the cap off. I inspected the cap and noticed that the small rubber seal in the middle on a spring is warped and doesnt really look like it can hold a seal. So my question is, am I right...is all this mess just a faulty seal on the cap?

The car has been stalling for some time now and now it won't start. all electrical and fuel parts are new. (distributor, battery, alternator, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pressure reg, etc). This has to be due to a bad sensor or ecu. The car starts with starter fluid. the injectors are receiving an electrical signal to tell them to spray. Will an o2 sensor prevent the car from stalling or is it another sensor (MAF, etc).

The manual for my car says change it every 5,000 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first. I'm nowhere near 5,000 miles (got about 2,000 left), but it's been almost 8 months. I took it in at 6 months for a change, but the dealership wouldn't change it and said it wasn't necessary. This hasn't been a problem before, because once upon a time I drove 5,000 miles in about 4 months' time. But now, I live in Boston and I do nothing but stop-and-go driving, and I drive less than 5,000 in a year. The oil level is fine, but I'm not sure what to look for with the oil itself to determine wether or not it needs to be changed early.

I have a 2002 hyundai elantra, whenever I got oil changed I noticed level was way way high on the dipstick, so I started doing it myself. I noticed that at about 1 qt. below the amount it says in book (4.5 qt i believe) the dipstick is at the full mark. I am on level ground and waiting awhile before adding it again, and I am changing the filter. What could possibly cause this? Should I go by the dipstick or book??? Anyone else have this car?

I backed off a slight ledge and the rear wheel of my taurus slipped off bending the rear axle. its a 2005. the wheel is off track and I have to hold the steering wheel at about a 75 degree angle to keep the car straight. So what I need to know is how much will this cost to repair and would it be safe to drive temporarily.

I replaced the solonoid (selonoid?) and starter. It clicks but doesn't start -however radio/windows/lights all work but my motor doesn't start... I have to let it "rest" for about 30 minutes and then it will fire up again. What should I do next? Replace the cables? Battery was checked and OK. The postive cable is over $1000 because it is also the wiring harness for the car. I need a cheaper solution if that is the problem...Is there something else that could be the problem that I am overlooking?

I have a 1994 convertible with a plastic rear window, and it has 13 years of dirtiness on that thing.
There is a bunch of ugly what I presume are scratches all across teh middle (probably from the folding process).
Also, there are little almost transparent white circles (you have to see them from an angle though)... that are also really annoying.

Can you identify what those circles are??

I've tried meguire's plastx polish...and even some white vinegar distilled in water.
Currently, im looking for a more aggressive product.
