I have tested the fpr by removing the vacuum hose while cranking and no fuel comes out. Someone told me that this means the fpr is ok. Does this absolutely mean it's ok or can there still be something wrong with it? Fuel is being delivered to the fuel rail and not getting into the engine. The car starts with staring fluid. I have narrowed the problem to bad injectors or a fuel pressure reg.

I had in 40 years 38 cars and usually tried to keep them away from repair shops and car dealers. If I really need one, the frequency of repairs just goes up, doesn't matter how much miles the car has. Is their a corrollation?

I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 ltr engine, Automatic trans, 245,000 miles here's what's wrong...

From stop~ If I take off normally it sputters & bucks when it switches gears, and does so until I let off the gas. However if I ease into it it gets to higher speed w no problem, and runs great. Anytime I 'floor' the gas pedal it bucks, when I ease off and ease into it its good.... NOW at cruising speed when I 'floor' it as to pass someone, it BOGGS DOWN, (and not quite backfires but almost) at this point when I take my foot completely off the gas I feel a jerk & notice the tack revs high for a moment then goes into normal range. So far I changed the MAP sensor- and both shift sensors... HELP... I dont mind spending a few bucks to fix the problem on my own, but dont wanna go to a pro & get ripped off either, I know the car is old (mileage wise) but its in great shape, and runs grea until now...and I bet its something real simple... ANY IDEAS?

I have a 98 Saturn SL-2. The anti-lock brake system recently turned off and since then has mostly stayed off, but sometimes goes back on. Is there any danger beyond not having the benefits of ABS?

I mean really blow up. The whole side of my tire blew out while I was driving 75, out in the middle of nowhere in the desert. It was, around 110 degrees, so needless to say, it sucked.

Luckily I didn't lose control of the vehicle, and I know how to change a tire so it wasn't that big of a deal.

But my tires were new (within the last year) and fairly expensive, and the pressure was, as far as I know, within normal range.

Would you be worried about the other 3 tires having quality issues? Can't help but think about it as I'm driving curvy mountain roads at fast speeds. Had it happened in a different spot, with more traffic, or on a turn, I could be dead.

I need peoples opinions here. I'm 20 years old and have worked at a different auto shop for 6 months prior to the job you're going to hear about. I just started at this new job where I was supposed to be a Automotive Apprentice (Mechanics Helper). I've worked there 2 days and am horribly stressed! The first day is the day I dropped of my resume, I was hired instantly and went to work immediately did some typical work at firs. At the end of the day I was told to bring in an Astro van for a " No Start " so I diagnosed it as needing a fuel pump and it could use a tune up, so I ordered the parts then went home. The next day I go to work and start that job immediately. There is 1 other "mechanic" , he was given a water pump on a 350CI Van and a Power steering hose. I finished my crappy van job way before he finished his and I was thinking in my head o my lord. After that job the service writer comes back and says theres a work order for a Bronco in need of front pump seal. Continued.....

I just got a roadside emergency kit that has 2 flares in it. My problem is that I live in Utah and it gets up to 105 here. Which means that it gets significantly hotter in the trunk on a hot summer day.

Are there any risks of the flares self-igniting in the trunk?

I just had my emissions done on my OBDII car. I kept the engine running the entire time to make sure the cats stayed hot to help pass inspection.

When I got my report back, I passed, but under the ASM2 tailpipe inspection section, everything is listed as N/A.

Was it unnecessary for me to keep my engine running the entire time and wasting gas?

I guess only OBDI cars use the tail pipe sniffer.... ???

I've narrowed it down to that: I don't have the floor jack, jack stands, garage space or child-free work area to do it myself. Your best estimate would be a big help.

I have changed the oil on my Mini Van every 50,000 miles. The car has 160,000 on it and is in purre-fect condition. I gave my previous car away with 180,000 miles on it and it's still driving now with 240,000 miles. Is it just making a buck for the industrie? What are your thoughts?

it just started last night. i was driving and i hit the brakes and it started squeeling. it'll stop on its own sometimes or i'll just turn off the a/c. it's a 96' jeep grand cherokee limited. i first thought it was the brakes but you can't really hear it outside the car. and it won't do it with the a/c turned off. i had the a/c recharged 2 months ago. would this be something i can fix or what. please help. thanx. it also does it on all various controls of the temp, like defrost, head and feet, feet only, head only, recirc, all of them
