Maintenance & Repairs - July 2007

I have a 95 Dodge Stratus. Yesterday, I went to the store, and all of my car's electronics were in good working order. When I left the store, I started the car, and most of the electronics were not working. No radio, no lights/blinkers, no fan, but the "airbag" and "safety belt" lights came on. When I came home, I turned the car off, waited 10 seconds, and turned the car on. Everything worked as if nothing bad happened. I was/am creeped out by this, and would like to know what happened and what I can do so this doesn't happen again. Thank you!

Someone told me about a miraculous canister available at Canadian Tire who can fix flat tire. He mentionned that once the tire is out of air, all you have to do is connect the can, let it fill the tire and then it's good as new. It can even withstand nails, holes, etc... Anyone knows the specific name of this product ?

The 1992 oldsmobile silhouette has two air conditioning units but front air conditioning unit blows hot air instead of cool air how would you fix this problem?

I am intereseted in buying a 1976 MGB but do not want to invest too much money on it. I do not know anything about cars or mechanics and I am not entirely sure what is wrong with the electrical charging system (nor what it does). The seller says that it runs good despite this problem, I just don't want to run into bigger problems later on. Is this a major problem? Will it possibly be expensive? Thanks for any help you can offer.

My alternator recently went bad and when it did my fuel gauge jumped over or went around the little plastic tick to keep it in place is there any way to fix it with out taking it to a shop?

I changed motors on my 68 and crossed the wires on the altenator and it shorted out the entire car where do i go to try and fix the problem, all the fuses are good if i run a jump wire from the fuse box to the battery i get the lights on but can't find the problem,ther is no inline fuse and it was suggested that the ignition wires melted together but i checked and it is good

My Chrysler T&C lets you turn the key on and off twice, then back on, and the check engine light flashes the codes in sequence. Does a 98 Ford Explorer have a similar solution?

I got into quite a fender bender with s 04' Crystler Town & Country (minivan) today. I want to pay for the victims damage out of my pocket. The rear bumper will need to be replaced and the backside lift-gate will need some parts replaced. What do you all think, everyone I know is aproximating $1300, instant online quotes are at 1100... pickup runs fine except when I first start it, or when I shut it off and try to restart it. It starts fine, but 15-20 seconds after it has started and come up to normal idle it start to chug and idle poorly. This last for about 20 seconds then it comes back to normal idle and runs fine. If I jump in it , start it up and try to take off it chugs and sputters for a couple of minutes then takes off and runs fine until I shut it off for a couple of minutes, then it will do the same thing again. I have two fuel tanks and it does the same with both so I don't think it's the fuel pumps. I have a new fuel filter, air filter and the injectors have been cleaned. The check engine light does not come on. I don't know what's wrong. If it had a carb on it I would say the choke is sticking, because that's how it behaves, however it has fuel injection.

starts ok but starter sticks on and when i turn the key off the starter keeps turning engine over. turn key back on and motor starts.turn key off, motor quits but starter keeps turning engine over.

What is the smaller resovoir next to the thing where you put in brake fluid? it says it only takes dot3 dot 4 brake fluid but why is there two places to put in brake fluid? my smaller resovoir empty is it suppsoed to be empty? is this why its causing my clutch to remain on the floor?

Car temp. is going up (~100^C) everytime engine is @ low idle (on stop sign or light). When I drive on freeway it goes down. I consulted my friend mechanic and he said that my fan clutch is not working properly. My thermostat is opening and water pump is great. I suggested that radiator flush might help but he said hell no. Let me know what you think. Car has 142K V6 3.2L.

i have a 2000 gmc sierra 1500 and a while ago the gas gage stopped working, it either stays on full or empty depends what the truck is doing, and when im just parked or idling then it goes back and forth, is there somethng i can do or is it bigger??... if u need more info let me know... my space is limited on here

I have a Dodge Ram 1500 and their is a leak in the brake line. I went to mechanic and he told me that the brake line needs to be replaced. I want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. How much should it cost to replace a brake line-labor plus parts.
