Generator voltage regulator is fried it should be located under the back seat on the drivers side get a new voltage regulator and replace it with the battery disconnected. Good luck VW is very simple. The round generator only has two studs and two wires. Red big battery wire and smaller wire from the voltage regulator. After the Voltage regulator is replaced pull up another car hook jumper cables to the other car battery and the other end of the cables just touch the battery terminal of the generator after the VW is running. That polarizes the generator. How long was it hooked up wrong and did it run? E-mail me if necessary I COULD USE MORE INFO jp.hudson@sbcglobal.net
