I need to get my brake pads replaced, shave rotors and flush the system

how much should all this cost?

does anyone go to a national chain that is pretty reasonable and doesn't try to cheat a girl out of her money?

It shouldn't be more than $150-$200 if nothing is wrong. Some will often tell you that you need rotors or calipers when they really aren't bad. Try Just Brakes, but bring a guy even if he's a moron, just don't let the moron talk!

alot of good answers. when i do my own, i pay about 50 bucks a rotor, and about 25 bucks for pads. on the newer cars, you might be able to shave the rotors once, then you will need new ones. at a shop, plan on 200 bucks to start. reguardless of your gender, they wil try to talk you into more parts, like new calipers. to them more parts=more money. i know, i use to work at a dealership as a mechanic. talk to people and find out what shops give the best service and price. one national chain store might be good and another might not be. also, get a warranty in writting on all work performed. they tend to do a better job knowing they will have to fix their mistakes for free. as for flushing the system, it only costs me about 10 bucks for coolant. changing the thermostat at that time is a good preventative maintence idea too, another 10 bucks. a shop will charge about 50 bucks for the flush and another 30-40 bucks for a thermostat change.

Depends upon the car. $200 - $800 generally. Not all rotors can be turned, some have very little tolerance and must be replaced unless the wear is very minimal.

You will find that the national franchise workshops are very reputable.
The best way to judge any workshop is to look at the work area - if it neat, clean and organised their finished jobs will be the same.
If the work area looks like a dog's breakfast, their work will be the same.

Good luck with your projects.

$175.00 TO $200.00 FOR THE FRONTS.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.
