Usually 4cly engines are known to be hard to kill. I own both a 4cyl 2.2L 20mpg and a 6cyl 3.8L 23mpg and the 6 gets better milage go figure. The 4cly needs to work harder to keep up and the 6 just purrs along. But the 6 will drink if your a lead foot but it's nice to have the extra power in case you need to pass. My parents new 6 cyl camry gets 29mpg and is a rocket. Its all about which car/ driving habbits.
