I noticed that my right front caliper is braking & not the right caliper & this coincided with an ABS light - but no red "brake" light which would seem to indicate a bad proportioning valve, bad circuit in the master cylinder OR frozen front caliper ? Truck has 220K + miles on it .. But runs fantastic except for brake issue. This has caused me to go into a spin on the freeway when I hit my brakes also makes the truck want to change lanes when you stomp on the brake pedal - really pulls ..any ideas would be appreciated .. thanks

I accidentally drove home today in D3 transmission in my Accord. It was about 30 minutes of highway driving (~70-75 MPH) and I'm concerned about damage to my engine and/or transmission. Should I be legitimately concerned or is a one time occurrence nothing to worry about?

Okay so i need a new car. And i've been looking around and i found this Chevy Cavalier. It looks real nice. but it needs a new transmission. and some new "Freeze" or something to do with the A/C. it says it has 157,000 miles but he says thats wrong and has only a lil over 100,000. but i was wondering if it would be worth it. to buy the car for like 3000$ and then just get a new transmission and what else.

So i was wondering what it would need. in order to make it last maybe like 100,000 more miles.. like new engine? new what? thanks

hi, i just bought my first car, a '96 Pontiac Sunfire, and its a stick shift. since im new to driving, i was wondering if the RPM gauge in the car can help me shift at more precise timing than just listening to the engine and watching the speedometer etc. if it can, would someone please explain how it works.

also, no one really has to answer this, its just an extra thing, the mileage of the car is 167,000 mi. but it was well maintained by only one owner. with regular oil changes and good maintaince, how long do you think it can last before i would have to replace the engine and all of its hood components?

Today I had my rear suspension fixed by one of my mother's friends who is a mechanic. I had posted a previous question about my power steering making a really bad rubbing noise. Well the mechanic looked at my power steering and told me that it wasn't filled with power steering fluid and that it was filled with transmission fluid. He flushed it out and put some power steering fluid in and now it sounds wonderful. My question is are you actually supposed to place transmission fluid in you power steering? I had been taking my car to a place called Tires Plus and they put it in. I thought that a so called chain of car repair places weren't supposed to put anything in your car that you never asked for.

I want to put some new rims on my car. I am not if I can do this my self. I have a lot of experience changing bicycle tires. To change a rim on a tire i know it has to be the same size. Then when I take the tire off and blow the air out, will I be able to take the rim out easy? And just slide the new rim in? Or is it more complicated than this? Any answer woud be greatly appriciated, thanks

I have a 1986 Nissan Maxima, the other day it wouldnt start, I got a jump, it started. But as soon as the jumper cables were disconnected the volt meter on my dash went from like 12 volts and slowly started trickling down until the car just died out again. This went on for several tries. Is my battery completely dead or is something draining all the juice, like maybe the alternator? I was about to go and purchase a brand new battery, but i was told that if its the alternator, it's going to do the same thing to a new battery. Can anyone help me figure this out? I'll have to go the local salvage yard and pull out an alternator from the same model car, if it is the alternator. But I don't want to do that if that's not the problem. And by the way, which size rachet attachment would I use to pull out an alternator anyways? HELP!!! I'm a Dansel in Distress!!

I have a 95 Lebaron. It's only doing this like maybe 5% of the times I drive it, but it still has me a little concerned. Sometimes when I go to start my car, when I put it in drive and give it a little gas, the car lurches forward all of a sudden. After that it won't shift. If I park the car and turn it off for a minute or two, it stops and drives normally again. It never has the problem when driving for a distance, just after it starts up. What could it be and should I worry about it? the car is old with quite a few miles on it (118K). should I get it fixed ASAP?

I have a 2001 Saturn SL. I had the wheel bearing replaced over a year or so ago. I think it is bad again or it is the other side, but it is definately making a loud humming noise. How long can I drive like this? Am I causing worse damage?

So my car has been having issues starting and the gauges have been freaking out a little. I recently changed my alternator and I'm still having the problem. My battery is about 5 years old. I'm wondering if my battery isn't strong enough to charge my new alternator. Any ideas?

Is $250 a reasonable price for fixing/replacing all four coil springs on a 2002 Ford Focus SE 4-dr sedan? The front coil spring on passenger side needs fixing and I was advised by mechanic it is customary to replace ALL at the same time. Please advise thanks!
