i had my car on neutral and press the gas all the way down and then shifted to drive. and the car sounded like something got stuck and it would not move after that. When i changed gears and pressed the gas the engine would sound but the car would not move and when i put it in park the car made this wierd crackling noise. I have a 97 ford explorer.
I was being an idiot trying to do a burnout....
can someone please let me know what is wrong with the car and about how much it will cost to fix??? please and thank you

You probably stripped the gears in your transmission. You will most likely need a new transmission since all those little pieces are just grinding away in there.
It is cheaper to buy a rebuilt/reconditioned transmission but there is always a risk that it isn't rebuilt properly. Obviously a new transmission is more likely to be good but way more expensive.
Then there is labor costs to install it....
You broke it good. Either way you choose it will be expensive. Good Luck!

sounds like you broke the transmisson on it, you may pay up to 1,500 or more for a new one, but you could find a used one for bout half or maybe less, by the way to do a burnout all you need to do is hold the brake and press on the gas at the same time

if your lucky you just broke a u joint on your drive shaft, look to see if the drive shaft is hanging down under the car. if its not a u joint your screwed but just think of it as a learning experience that's how we learn, next time put your brake & gas both all the way down at the same time then let your foot off the brake to do a burn out, its less expensive that way.

the correct information is you HAD an automatic transmission!
you now have a box full of transmission fluid and broken bits

The other problem is you were driving a Ford Exploder...I meant "Explorer"

tranny is screwed, probably the gears, maybe the clutch
New tranny, can get expensive, but you leraned your lesson I'm sure :)
