Anytime you have a breach of oil in the water system, it's a head gasket issue. Depending on the level of your mechanical abilities, it is definitiely a challenge.

Before condemn head gaskets, remove timing cover (got to remove it for head job anyway),pressurerize cooling system to see if any expansion plug(freeze out)in the front of the block corroded and leaks coolant into crankcase.HTH

sounds like a blown head gasket. if you take the car to a reputable shop, they can do an inexpensive "block test" which might be no charge if you have the repair done there. bad news is, labor to repair the gasket is extremely high!

if the engine overheated bad enough when the manifold failed it may have cracked a cylinder head or damaged the head gaskets.. or possibly you goofed on the intake replacement.. i would suggest a cylinder leak down test at this time

Bad head gasket, question did you torque down everything in the correct order, and then re-torque?
