l want to buy a used car but the dealer said it has an over drive transmission. does anyone know the meaning of it

i need my front brake pads changed and i found someone i dont know off of Craigslist to do it for 50 bucks which is alot cheaper than a mechanic but my friend said that i shouldnt do it because i dont know him. what do you think?

no gas is being pumped to my fuel injectors, i took a look at my gas tank and I see there is a hose that is missing a clamp to clamp it tight to another pipe. can this affect the fuel tank pressure? or the fuel pump?

I took my 1996, Honda Accord LX (115,000 miles) into the local Honda dealership for a regular oil change when they advised me to get my Splark Plug Tube Seals and my Distributor O-Ring replaced completely because there was A LOT of oil around my spark plugs. They showed it to me and when they pulled them out they were dripping a lot of oil. They said it was defintely not a good thing at all and it needed to be fixed within a few days or it would ruin my car. IS IT THAT URGENT???? I have someone who can replace them for a fourth of the cost but not until this weekend. I just need to know if this situation needs to be treated immediately!

I hit a 2001 honda civic. There is a little dent probably about 2 inches wide and one inch across and about 1/3 of an inch deep. You can't see it from far, but it is visible up close. Anyone knows about how much I can expect to pay?

Last time this happened, I went to a Sears Auto Center to change the battery. I'm just wondering where else I could go. I admire you if you do it yourself because "do it yourself" is not in my dictionary. So where would you bring your car to change the battery? I'm living in Silicon Valley, California.

my friend brought up this idea for me to do to my 1987 monte SS big block 350

boar it over 30, so it will be a 380
add a 4 barrel
add 2 superchargers
and set up a dual carborator system

he suggests that it will make the car more powerful, and add to its top speed and acceleration

i'm wondering if this is true, and what will it do to the gas milage? and if there are any downsides to this?

Okay i got my oil changed today and they recommended that i change my transmission fluid. Do i drain out the old or just put some new in there? What will happen if this runs out?

I heard that when I stop or low idle then aux. fans are supposed to come on to cool off the engine not just when A/C is on. Is that true? I have 93 Mercedes 300E. My aux. fans never come on. The reason I'm asking is because my car temp. goes up to ~100^C when @ low idle. When on freeway the temprature drops to ~85^C. Let me know if you think aux. fans could be the problem. My A/C also doesn't work.

My 2004 Kia Rio is in the shop since it will barely drive. The mechanic believes that the catalytic converter might be broken, and will verify in the morning. Does anyone know if the replacement of the part would be covered under warranty? I am the original owner.

I take a long trip? It is still 300 miles before the oil needs changing, but I will be driving aprox. 800 miles one way.

I have had this car for 5 years now and the alarm just started going off without anyone touching the car. I got a new batterey a year ago so I am thinking low battery is not an issue here. Does anybody have any idea why it is doing this?

All of a sudden I have no clutch on my 85 Honda Magna v45. I bled the lines and still nothing. I want to know how to fix this problem my self without paying the blood suckers that want to charge 55.00 an hour, they said I must have a leak someplace. I cannot afford that price.

I got a set of wheels with tyres, however the dust caps are stuck tight and i cant get them off to inflate the tyres, it's like theyve never been taken off. I was thinkin about heating up the valve and dust cap to see if that would budge it. Anybody got any ideas?

It feels like I'm going to have a blow-out. It doesn't do this all the time but I have had two episodes in the last week. Steering wheel and front end seem to shake violently.

My minivan was factory equipped with run-flat tires and no spare (not even a donut). After a terrible experience when I couldn't get a replacement easily, I switched to regular 225/70/R17 tires, and bought a full size as a spare. This worked fine for a few years when I did a 5-tire rotation that moved tires from Driver to Pass as well as front and rear.
Today I had a blow out and they dont sell the old tire any more. The remaining four are all fair.
1. Is it a problem to get a single tire (same size) - both from a perspective of different tread wear and tread pattern? If not, anything I need to consider for rotation?
2. If a single is a problem, and I get a pair of the same on each axle (ie., throw out one "fair" tire), do I need to stop the normal 5 tire rotation? Do I keep the two new tires always on the same axle and rotate the 3 old tires on the other?

Ok my car is a 97 plymouth breeze with a 2.0 Engine...it has been jumping/jerking as you are going down the road regardless if u are pressing the gas or not! The check engine light flashes whenever the car jumps/jerks. Also when u first start the car the RPM cage will jump like u are pushing on the gas and u can hear the car make a noise as if u were accelerating- while that is happening if u change into reverse or drive the car will die completely. Also it has recently started not wanting to start! =( my car is always doing something but now no one can figure out the problem!! I let it sit an drove a relative vehicle and the first couple weeks after it had sat it appeared to be better...drove perfectly .....now its doing it again!!

I have changed the air filter, oil- oil filter, were are going to do the spark plugs this week, I have put engine cleaner thru the gas, gas cleaner....umm...the transmission fluid has been checked....
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

i have a 2000 chevy s-10 pickup.i hear i noise whenever the engines on, coming from inside the gas tank.sounds like a pump thats always on.noise sounds like a car intenna going up are down but its inside the gas tank.also ran out of gas yesturday and since then the engines rpms go up for no reason.is there a problem are is the pump inside the tank going bad?? the gas gauge isnt working either always on full are emty.

a couple of months ago the cigarette lighter in my car refused to pop back out. previously it had worked although now it is flattened off and wont pop back out. does anyone have any idea on how to get it to pop back out.

This morning I found my passenger side rear view mirror missing. Not the whole assembly....just the glass/mirror part. Does this sound like car vandalism or could the mirror just have fallen off? Does it take much to pry off just the mirror? I'm just curious how this person who stole it was able to do it in plain view. I live in a heavily populated area. Someone is always around. Could it be the mirror just fell off?
