2003 - 2004 Catera CTS Resetting Oil Life Indicator


Base Audio System

Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
Press the UP or DOWN arrow on the INFO button located to the right of the Driver Information Center (DIC) to access the DIC menu.
Once XXX% ENGINE OIL LIFE menu item is highlighted, press and hold the CLR button.
The percentage will return to 100%, and the oil life indicator will be reset.
Turn the ignition OFF.


Navigation System
Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
Turn the system on by pressing the PWR/VOL knob once. The PRW/VOL know is located to the lower left of the Driver Information Center (DIC).
Press the INFO button located to the left of the display to access the Vehicle Info menu.
Turn the TUNE/SEL knob located to the lower right of the display until Engine Oil Life is highlighted. Press the knob once to select it.
Once XXX% Engine Oil Life is displayed, press the multi-function button next to the Reset prompt in the upper right corner of the display.
The percentage will return to 100%, and the oil life indicator will be reset.
Turn the ignition OFF.

Its a good habit to change your oil every 3000 miles. You should think about changing your own oil its very easy and alot cheaper. If you look under your hood the type of oil recommended is usually printed on your oil cap.

If you don't want to buy a code reader then just disconnect the battery overnight. This should reset all of the codes back to the original factory default settings.

Go down to your local Kragen's or other auto parts store. You can buy a CAN reader. Here is a link to the device

The instructions are in your owner's manual. The instructions differ depending on which audio system you have.
