I got a set of wheels with tyres, however the dust caps are stuck tight and i cant get them off to inflate the tyres, it's like theyve never been taken off. I was thinkin about heating up the valve and dust cap to see if that would budge it. Anybody got any ideas?

Heating is a bit risky. I would try running some penetrating oil down the thread of the valve stem and leaving it to get inside the cap via the thread. There's a good chance that, left over night , this will help you undo the caps. A strong pair of pliers might also help or, better still ,use mole grips. If all else fails go to a tyre supplier and get him to fit 4 new valves .
Good luck

Don't use heat on the valve stems. Try a pair of pliers. If needed use 2 pair. One to grip the stem just below the cap & the other to remove the cap.

If you don't get anywhere with WD40 or other penetrating oil, then a pair of pliers will shift them.

Grip them tightly but be careful of the stems themselves. It doesn't matter if you damage the dust caps - I cannot believe they are made of metal - they're usually plastic.

You can buy a new set of 5 from virtually any garage for a couple of pounds or less. That's what I did.

The valve stem caps? Just use a pair of pliers making sure not to crush them completely. If they still won't come off, take them to a tire shop and I am sure they'll help you get them off. Good luck!

Use a dismantling lubricant such as Plus Gas - spray it onto the visible threads, leave for a few minutes, then gently twist.

WD-40 is a water dispersant (that's what the WD stands for), as isn't that good as a dismantling lubricant.

Quite a common problem with metal valve caps.

Soak with WD40 then wrench them off with pliers.

Then go back to good old plastic.

If you heat them up, you'll probably cause at least one of them to be melted which will cause you to have a blow out, and probably worse. Take it to a tire shop and have them do it right. @ $20 a valve.

Yes, they would change the balance, but the change would be so small, you will not notice any difference in steering wheel feedback. Now your bigger problem, is how to stop them finding their way onto a kids bicycle!
