I have a 94 Ranger and last night it turned on and then cut off. It ran after it got jumpstarted then. This morning it started. This afternoon it wouldn't start and it wouldn't jump but it would turn over. What's the deal?

Sounds like a starter or a bad connection do the starter.

Remove the cables to your battery and clean the terminals to your battery with sandpaper. Clean as much of the corrosion as possible. Then clean the cable connections to the battery, and reattach the cables to the battery. Make sure its tight and that contacts between the cable and battery terminals are good.

If that doesn't do it then (1) your battery needs replacing or (2) your have a bad alternator.

It is possible that you shorted out your computer when you jump started it. Sometimes if the cables are not attached a certain way, a surge can take out the computer.

Check the cable to the starter.

computer may sence a bad battery. Car will shut down or not start in that case.
