I leased my car and turned it back to the dealer with my passanger seat leather color worn off. They charged me for a replacement seat cover and for cigarette burns their service guys put in my carpet when I had my oil changed there, even though I told them about it when they did it! My friend told me about companies that will come to your house and fix your cars interior before you return it, has anyone used them? Their called Fabrion tech.s?? I asked the dealer if they heard of them and they said they use them to repair their lease returns, used cars and warranty work!!!! I'll call them for my next lease return in August but wanted to get some feedback if it's worth it first!

Hi,

My car (Renault Espace Helios 1993) had a couple of dodgy starts recently, which I foolishly ignored, but now she won't start at all.

I'm not sure if it is the battery as all lights, wipers, ect. are still functioning.

Can anyone tell me if it is likely that lights, windscreen wipers, heater ect. would still work if the battery was too low to power the engine?

I don't really want to buy a new battery if this isn't the problem.

Any help gratefully received and appreciated!

I have to let my 1983 Volvo idle (for the first couple of minutes with my foot on the gas) for about 7-10 minutes before it will drive without stalling. After it gets past that point, it rides like a dream. What can I do to decrease the warm-up/idle time? Adjust the idle? Something with the throttle? Help!

Hello, all, this is my very first question and I really hope someone can help. I bought a 99 Taurus a couple of days ago. Sometimes the speedomer works and sometimes it doesn't, when it doesn't the miles do not roll over. The car drove perfectly during the test drive. Today, I drove it and the trans would not shift out of first. It will shift fine into drive and reverse. When the problem first started it was kind of jerky, in and out of gear, now it won't change at all from first. When I pushed the gas really hard and got the rpms up, it shifted hard into second. Do I need another trans or is there a simple fix?

This almost entirely happens when I first use car after being off for more than 8 hours. When decelerating to a stop my transmission instead of going to first gear is disengaging. Applying the gas simply revs the engine. To re-engage the transmission it is necessary to turn off the car and restart the engine. After this happens the car drives normally and decelerates and downshifts normally. Any ideas?

Have just recently changed head gaskets, intake manifold, exhaust manifold gaskets because of water in oil problem. Gunk in oil pan SEVERLY thick sludge. Last oil change 2500 miles ago did not indicate water in oil. After all back together, driver side only has no compression on all cylinders when rocker nuts torqued per spec. Can back off on torque and engine run perfect, however cannot leave like this because nuts too loose to stay adjusted that way. Heads NOT shaved after removal. Just replaced gaskets.

Thanks for the help in advance.

i bought my cadillac catera (1997' 80,000 miles) a couple months ago, and i have kept up with my oil changes. my car always seems to need more oil and antifreeze. one day my oil light came on 5 times, i added more oil to it, and it kept going off. so i took it to a shop to get the oil change and ask why the light keeps coming on. basically they tried to over charge me by checking my sensor..when they could have just checked the oil pump,so i got mad and left. when i went home that day i checked to see that they did everything okay.i noticed there was no antifreeze.so i went and bought some, and added it. the next day i drove my car to work and then i went straight home.when i turned my car off it started smoking ALOT from under the hood. later i checked it again and all the antifreeze was gone. this was within a days time of refilling it! i just went outside to check my car and there is a leak, im guessin its antifreeze. couldnt there just be a leak in a hose?

It's a 2000 Jeep GCherokee. There is a dial on the dash with a picture of an oil can and it says "0...40...80" but of course it does not state what it is, exactly, that those numbers are measuring. Anyhow, its been pointing at 80 lately, so I got the oil changed, but the dipsh*t didn't seem to have any idea WHY it might be pegging, but said that it's a pressure gauge.

So my problem is that it keeps showing high pressure, but if I go fast on the freeway for a while it points around 60 or so until I slow down or stop, then back to 80. What will I need to do to correct this, or will it correct itself with the fresh oil? And if its a pressure thing, wouldnt the pressure have released when they let out the oil? I'm not having any trouble with any other guages, and the car doesn't seem to be acting funny at all (knock on wood grained paneling...).

I heard that if, when taking apart your engine, if you lay your crankshaft somewhere flat, it will warp slighty, become unbalanced, so you're supposed to stand it up on it's end. Is this true?
