If you mean will it trigger a check engine light, yes, it will. The error code will be fuel evaporative system error of some kind since a bad cap will not allow the tank to pressure up as it should. Often times just tightening the cap will turn off the light. The O² sensor doesn't "come on" because it is merely a passive sensor that sends information to the computer.

in simple terms had my CEL mild come on for the first time. Code suggested I had a small leak someplace. My gasoline cap replaced into free, tried to tight it, couldn't accomplish that so I make investments in $10 were given a sparkling gasoline cap and it snuggly suits in air tight. I cleared the code and hoping it doesn't illuminate, if it does the gasoline cap isn't in fault. For any automobile proprietor who won't be able to have the funds for a small purchase of a gasoline cap to fix this difficulty should not be using a automobile. be conscious of its a ambitious statement, yet imagine about the accountability element.

the correct answer is both 'dwh12345' & 'SVOMAN'.
In GA they have an emissions test that includes testing if the gas cap can hold the pressure.
