most likly its the cat is plugged to test it slowley rev up the engine in netural as it gets up to 3000 rpms keep going dont over rev it if the cat is pluged it will eventually slow down a little and no matter how hard you push on the gas it wont go any higher good luck let us know what you found

i own a repair shop and you first need to take it and have it scanned,and see if it has any trouble codes on the computer,then id check the fuel filter on it,it sounds like it may be stopping up on it,either that or the air filter will cause this,but there are sensors also that will do this,that's why you need it scanned auto zone will do this free of charge for you,good luck with it,i hope this helps.

Is it fuel injection or carbureted, sounds like a fuel delivery issue, or a throttle problem.
