All my other lights (head, hazzard, interior, etc) all work. Before they quit working when I signaled my blinkers were blinking faster than usual, and then nothing. What could cause this, will it be easy enough for a girl to fix who knows very little about cars?

I have a 99 Toyota Camry LE, that has been getting 11 mpg city. When I took it to a reputible shop I was told that my first o2 sensor was slow. It will cost a minimum of $230 to swap it out, however he is not sure it would be worth it.
Also everything else has been checked. Any advice?

heres a breif rundown,,,

my timing belt broke off when i was driving and the engine itself had 106,000 miles. so we got another head gasket with all the fillers, water pump and new belts and oil changed. but my mechanic got a used head gasket and cleaned it off and put the used head(and said it was good) into my car except he used the lifters and the cams from the broken headgasket into my "new" one because it was less worn then the used headgasket. the car runs fine now

my question is will i see any problems later on this and does it seem the head was older then what it really was? how do i make sure this lasts for a long time or should i get a new car

hi there.. ok my car radio is a becker model 1432 and has one of those annoying features where if the battery died or somehow got disconnected and reconnect, it will ask you to enter a code. However, you have to "Wait..." before you can re-enter codes as a security feature. Unforunately I have to wait up to 24 hours before I can re-enter my code.
Thus the ignition (not the enginre though) has to be on for up to 24 hours, and I am very worried my battery will die if I do this. Thus I want to take out my radio and wire it up to a 12V battery to simulate the same thing. What is this called/ where do I get it, its like a 12V battery that you can plug into an AC outlet.

Either that or is there something I can hook up to my car battery and plug it in to an AC outlet to ensure my battery doesnt die (this way I wont have to take the radio out of the car).

Im willing to spend a reasonable amount to get a good quality 12V - i dont want anything thats bad quality.

Thanks)).

What would a fair price be for new brakes and installation on a 99 chevy blazer? An approximation would suffice.

I have a 97 GMC Jimmy... I noticed that every time i would press the accelerator, I would hear something that sounded like "water-boiling" or "bubbling" coming from the front of the truck.

I ignored it, being the girl that I am.. lol ((blush)). Well a week ago or so, my truck began to overheat, so I added antifreeze, since it was low. That solved my problem for the rest of that day. Since then, I have to add antifreeze every time I want to drive anywhere... I guess it pours out pretty fast... because every time I pop open the hood, there is only a little bit of antifreeze left...

I decided to ask here first, before I take it to a mechanic, and they tell me 10,000 other things that have nothing to do with my problem.

Soooo... What can be the problem? What should I do? Any suggestions?

THANK YOU!!!

I have a '96 Town Car. Sense yesterday, the engine shakes on idle. While in park (P), the engine rocks the whole car from side to side almost like its hula hopping. While in drive (D) the car acts as if it wants to stall but never does. Just a lot of stuttering. While driving, however, the car is fine. The check engine light also is on. Also, once the car is off, it works hard to start. It chugs away for 6 seconds or so before it cuts over. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I just brought my car to a AAA-certified mechanic (who also did my 60K). It is a Toyota Camry 99 with almost $100K miles on it. The recommendations were:

90K service: $495
Replace front and rear struts: $1065
- Right now the steering wheel squeaks on turns and the car leans in one direction
Replace front brake + rotors: $389
- My handbrake light is always on, mechanic said this is the cause
Replace timing belt + water pumps: $849

(As a reference, I live in Silicon Valley so prices are probably steeper than elsewhere)

Roughly, I would be looking for a $3000 repair on a $6000 car. Should I be doing all these repairs, or should I wait for a good deal on some of these ( i.e. timing belt)? Generally speaking, I am not that price sensitive, so if total savings are less than $500 I'd rather get it done now and not have to worry about it.

Also, any recommendations of good car sites would be helpful.

I have a Ford Windstar and recently the engine has started making a loud squealing noise and then stalls even while driving. We have already replaced the belt and the alternator. Could a problem with the water pump be causing this?

My boyfriend is restoring his 1982 chevy s/10. He wants to see different paint jobs, hoods, grilles, tailgates, etc. before choosing which one to go with. Is there a program out there that we can purchase to view this choices prior to making the choice?

Radio, heater fan, lights and starter turns over, but won't start. The dash warning lights and gauges are inoperable when the starter is turning. I can hear clicking from an electrical box under the battery. Is it a relay, solenoid or something simple? It ran this morning, but 4 hours later, the problem occurred. Battery is like new.

Alright, I'm sure that part of the reason is because it is freezing here. We're talking wind chills of 10-20 below 0. But every time I press the gas pedal, not the brake, on my car, there is a whistling noise. What could it be?
