I have a Ford Windstar and recently the engine has started making a loud squealing noise and then stalls even while driving. We have already replaced the belt and the alternator. Could a problem with the water pump be causing this?

To diagnose this; Remove the belt/ belts and try turning the components by hand. 1. Alternator 2. Power Steering 3. Water Pump 4. Air Condition Pump (you need to turn the front clutch not the pulley. It is the round disc in the very front of the A/C Pump.
If you have good mechanical knowledge, you can pretty much diagnose this your self. If you are not sure, then you really need to have an ASE certified mechanic take a look at it.
YES! Components can and will cause the symptoms you described.
