I charged the battery in the car in the garage then left it overnight. when i went to start it the next day, the battery was dead again. the battery is only 2 weeks old so i don't think that's it. i thought it may be the alternator but my lights and everything work fine and the battery gauge shows charge so i'm baffled. the first time this happened i stopped to get gas and turned my car off, pumped the gas, then the car wouldn't start without a jump. if anyone has any advise i sure appreciate it.

I am looking at buying a new car and the sales lady has told me about a new form of 'protection' for the car. It is called Complete Care package and its done by a company called Wax Guard (www.waxguard.com.au) I was just wondering if anybody has had this done to there car and if it was worth the $2500 they charge for it.

I haven't changed my spark plugs in a while. Three of them are behind the engine in an akward position and the boots wouldn't come out. I didn't want to pull too hard because I didn't want to rip the wire. I have a 1999 Monte Carlo.

My local Valvoline Instant Oil Change told me that I should get their "3-point" cleaning which is all three treatments you see here: http://www.vioc.com/pages/services/svc_fuel.asp . I saw a car getting it done and it was putting out thick white smoke, which the guy told me was all the crud getting cleaned up.

Is it worth $50? Does it really improve horsepower and gas mileage? I'm currently driving a 1997 Ford Ranger that usually gets 20-21 miles per gallon.

I have a 1990 Ford Probe GT. It's a 2.2 fuel injected 4 cylinder engine. It leaks and burns oil fast. It overheats, smokes, and gurgles some type of liquid. It revs up on its own up to 4000 rpms. It won't idle on it's own until it's warmed up. It makes a loud grinding sound from underneath front on the passenger side only when I'm driving and it's only happened 3x. I have a bad head gasket, so that's the oil. I think the EGR valve is doing something wrong...the car won't start now. It turns over but it's not starting. Before, it would take it a good 10 sec. to start anyway. Help? LMAO.

Service shop inspected car after report of low oil pressure. Found oil filter was imploded and undersized for car (01 Passat 2.0L V6). Oil was described as silver in color and contained metal shavings. Shop said engine bearing(s) are shot and need replacement engine. Initiated liability claim against lube shop which changed oil.

Now, they want to have their mechanic inspect the car to determine the cause of the failure and then decide if they will accept liability !

I've spoken to two other mechanics and they stated it is impossible to determine the cause of the failure now that the original service shop has removed the original oil and imploded oil filter.

So, my question is what should I do (i.e. let the other mechanic inspect the engine or not)? Can he really determine the cause of the failure now or am I just giving the lube place a chance to develop a defense for a possible lawsuit (i.e. my expert says X and their's says Y was the cause)?

I recently noticed that the gear shift lights are dim (Reverse, drive, neutral, etc.). I thought that they were supposed to be illuminated somewhat when you put your lights on (for driving in the dark, etc). Is the light out in my car, or was it always dim? Also, if my car is no longer under warranty, what would it cost to get that fixed?
