has anyone ever heard of, and used an electric supercharger? the idea looks good but does the product perform the way it says it will(adding 25-40 hp)?

Scam. In order to drive an effective supercharger, your alternator would need to put out hundreds of amps. A little fan in the intake plenum will be more of an obstruction to airflow than anything else.

Electric driven superchargers have been around since the fifties. Some actually work but unless you have a unit specifically designed and calibrated to your vehicle you will be wasting your money. Honestly, if a hairdryer blowing into the intake would up the HP of any given car by 25-40 don't you think EVERY auto manufacturer on the planet would be doing it?
PS -- look at the HP graph from the company selling the product. You will probably find that the bulk of the gain is around 6000 to 7000 RPM! When is the last time you drove your car like THAT?

Actually, my cousin has tried this one out and it seems like it actually works. He had his car dyno tested at my dads shop. He had gotten the one from http://www.electricchargers.com.
