I have a 1990 Ford Probe GT. It's a 2.2 fuel injected 4 cylinder engine. It leaks and burns oil fast. It overheats, smokes, and gurgles some type of liquid. It revs up on its own up to 4000 rpms. It won't idle on it's own until it's warmed up. It makes a loud grinding sound from underneath front on the passenger side only when I'm driving and it's only happened 3x. I have a bad head gasket, so that's the oil. I think the EGR valve is doing something wrong...the car won't start now. It turns over but it's not starting. Before, it would take it a good 10 sec. to start anyway. Help? LMAO.

I also just figured out that I've been putting anti-freeze in the overflow tank instead of in the radiator itself so the car's basically had no antifreeze for 5 months. The overflow tank has a straw type thing in it...on the lid...and mine is melted. If that helps at all.

It is tired and wants to sleep. If all this is true you really need to start looking around at a replacement car. This one will cost the national debt to get running again

Response: you want to put the fluid in the overflow.....As long as the hose is in one piece. The gurgling sound is the overheated water boiling. so for some time you have not had enough water in the engine. If it has gurgled then this stresses all parts of the engine.

Flush out the cooling systems, do an oil and filter change, spark plugs, wd40 on the ignition and electrical contacts etc.

If this fails, bin it and get something similar that won't let you down, like a Toyota MR2, Celica, Mazda RX-7, Mitsubishi GTO/3000GT.

Better have the head checked when the gasket is replaced. The head might be warped, or cracked. Its gonna be expensive, and hopefully a learning experience for you. good luck!
