I have a 90 Olds Cutlass Supreme that is overheating and blowing ice cold air. I notice when I gun it the temp will drop, otherwise it heats up very quickly and the antifreeze in my stock tank is boiling. What causes this ( stuck thermostat) ??? and where is the thermostat located on this vehicle? I dont notice any leaks anywhere.

For some reason recently my clutch on my 1996 ford escort 1.9 liter kicks out of first 2 out of 10 times I put it in gear. I have apx 60,000 miles on the clutch. Does anyone know what this might be? When it kicks out of first gear it makes a loud screech (embarrasing). Is this a sign of the clutch needing to be replaced? Do I need a new transmission? Any comments would be great
Thank you for your response in advance

I have a Truck that has a recommended tire pressure of around 30 psi on all four tires. On the front two tires I got about 30 psi, but on the back tires I've got 40 psi. The sidewall maximum pressure reads 35 psi. The thing is, I put a lot of stuff in the trunk, and sometimes i measure my tire pressure and it goes all the way up to 70 psi. So my question is, since I always carry such a heavy load, should I lower my current 40 psi, or should I just leave it there so my tires won't be super flat when I carry heavy stuff?

Anyone who has actually changed them on this model. In a toyota forum one person said it takes 3 hours because quite a few other parts must be disconnected while another person said that it is possible to just reach around and change them. I know that the front three shouldn't be too hard, just remove the cover and pull out the boots, but i'm concerned about the rear plugs.

My car wont turn over, so I had my starter tested and they said it was bad. So I replaced it with a tested one from a junk yard, but the car still wont turn over. I'm wondering if I got the wiring right, because i cant remember which chord went to which part of the starter. The thick black rubber line, is that negative? because it only fits on where the book says positive. There are 2 places to connect wires to right next to each other, and the book doesnt help. one of the wires comes from the starter itself. Any help would be appreciated.

You just dropped your mom at the dentists office and you're stuck in the car waiting for her. So, you park your car and listen to WILD 94.9 for about an hour. Does this have any long term effects on your battery? Will it recharge when you drive again?

Not too mechanically inclined. Anyone ever change a brake light on a 1995 Camaro (Z28 convertible) and have helpful hints? Like easiest way to get at it and then remove it. Thanks.

Hey guys,
I have a little concern. I have been experiencing some problems with my car for the past few months. The question is that when sometimes when I stop at the light, my car would seem like it is going to go dead, but never does go all the way down. It just idles rough. And today, while I was driving down the street, I put it in neutral (its manual) and the car was rolling for over 30 seconds then it went dead... I had to start it up while it was going 50 miles an hour.
It didn't do it again, so I am wondering what could be the problem with my car... why is it doing this... I had a tune up 14000 miles ago and clean my injectors (paid 90 buck) and cleaned the throttle body... but still the same problem... I have got to mention though that I have a cold air intake.. don't know if that might ever could cause a problem...
Can it be an idler that is needed to be changed?

OK, I've had my car two days and already one of my friends heaved his guts out in the back seat of my Neon last night. We were on the way back home from a visit to the local watering hole up the highway and my friend couldnt figure out to roll down the back window so he just puked about twenty gallons of beer and popcorn vomit onto my floor and back seat. I guess it was revenge for me dropping a transmission on his foot last week. It smelled so bad this morning that I just opened the back doors and washed it all out with a water hose. It still smelled so then I poured a half bottle of Pinesol on the carpet but now it smells like puke and christmas trees. I was going to customize my car tomorrow but now I guess I'll have to cut out the carpets and throw them in the dumpster. I cant have nothing nice because of my dang hick friends and family. You should just read what happened to my truck on my 360 page. Why me?

If i ask a question on how to repair something why would I want to hear " have a certified mechanic do it"? if i had the money for a "certified" mechanic I wouldn't be asking the question in the first place now would I?

When a mechanic needs to do really involving work, like replacing a head gasket or something, do they always look to a service manual of some sort, or do they rely on their collective experience to guide them through the process?

My daughter's car is making a clunking noise when she turns left and right and from the research we've done, it's pointing to the CV joint. Could it be something else?

Ive had the rotors turned 2-3x now. Started after new pads
put on last summer: brake shop says its me + Its Toyota:
if that were the case-it would have warped/pulsated its first
80K of life ! Now -it ONLY pulsates on HIGH speed stops ONLY.
Not ALL stops as last time. Theres room for one more turn. Should I just live with it? Replace pads and rotors? Is a little shimmy normal? Inspection recently (pre shimmy) showed calipers fine, even wear...disscoloration on rotor from heat.
Enough room for 1 turn more if needed.

Ideas?
Is it ok to use good after market parts??
Toyota parts are $$$$$$$$$$$$$
