does anyone know what the sensor is in a car and if it wasnt working how it would effect it

i have a 94 tahoe, and recently SOMETIMES i can't start the engine. lights, radio works, but ignition nothing, any idea?. the alarm was checked and they said is fine. a mechanic said is the key (is not reading it ?), so he put w40 and works 2-3 times but later no more. ANY IDEA??
ps. i changed the fuel pump not too long ago.

I had my oil changed about 2800 miles ago and the oil light started to flash,i checked my oil and therer was none. Added 4 1/2 quarts last week on the 8th, already down 1/3 on dip stick. only smokes when it first starts up, a little puff of smoke, white,blueish. no leaks nowhere!!!! help please.

okay so i got a new battery put into my car but every once in a while it won't start and when i leave my car off for an extended period of time i will start it up and all my radio stations will be set back to their default...i'm wondering if it's because the nuts arent on tight enough on the battery..any suggestions??

They tell me that it's better and cheaper to replace the whole bottom wish-bone, than just the bushes. Are there any better bushes than the FOrd one's????

The vehicle sat for a couple of years.Now when I drive it,every other day the brake pressure builds up and starts to lock up the front calipers.and I have to manually bleed it off.It got so tight today,it blew the booster(for the second time).I've changed the booster,master cylinder.rotors,pads,and calipers.

The primary cooling fan(radiator fan) does not come on when the car gets hot. The motor is not bad, because it comes on when the A/C is on. But the car will overheat without the fan engaging. I tried replacing the fan relay, and the cooling temp sensor (the one on the block (drivers side) beside the exhaust manifold), but the only difference was a strange electrical issue. now, after the car has been off for a minute with a key out, the clock on the radio comes on, and there is a funny clicking noise under the steering wheel.

makes no sense at all to me......

Six months ago, I bought my first car. A few weeks ago, I lifted the interior carpet to repaint the floor. After laying the carpet down again, I noticed my break lights stopped lighting up when I pressed the pedal. The tail lights still turn on, so it cant be due to a burnt out bulb. I checked under the carpet to see if I had maybe cut any wires when I was painting, but I didnt seem to. What else could be causing this problem? Could it be a blown fuse... or would the break lights run of the same fuse as the tail lights? If it helps, my car is a '59 Ford Custom 300. My guess is the set up should be the same on most other cars though.

I couldnt get my oil filter off, so I just went ahead and drained my oil and put new oil in without changing the filter, can I go in now and change the filter, or would I have to drain my oil again?

If I had to drain it out, can I just use that same oil since its new or would I have to buy new oil???

My car overheats even when it full of antifreeze. What is going on with it. I can go 1 mile in below zero weather & it saids that the engine is over heating & it starts smoking. Is that a radiator problem? Or do I possibly need a new water pump? If is something like that expensive or is something that can be repaired easily?

I just replaced the thermostat, no leaks, purged all the air out and topped off (I think) and it runs like the thermostat is stuck open. But from cold start the engine warms up in normal time while idling...What is causing the temp to drop as circulation increases with RPM's?

My 96 Isuzu Rodeo's front windshield wiper blades stopped working, along with the windshield cleaning spray. The back still works fine. Is this a wiper motor issue or an electical issue? How do I test for what the problem is, and how can I fix it?

Can I skip changing it just this once? I changed it out 2 months ago, about 2k miles, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it off, so can it wait another 3k miles so i can just take it somewhere and have them do it?

I changed my oil today, I drained out the old stuff, then went to take my oil filter off, and I cannot get it off. Is it okay just to leave it on til I need to change my oil again in 3k miles? This filter was just put on 2 months ago last time I had my oil changed, does the filter really need to be replaced or can it wait?

I recently posted my Acura not starting. I found why my timing belt had jumped timing, I was told that when a Acura/Honda jump timing it bends the valves is this True? And what kind of repair bill will I be looking for?

I've been told it would be more cost efficient to just buy a "new" engine for my '94 Toyota Camry XLE and I was wondering ballpark, how much it would cost for the labor and the engine itself.
