(Just left to sit and idle - what do you think would break down first?)

The oil will break down 1st and cause internal egine wear but not enough to cause a lot of damage unless it ran for weeks or months. The exhaust would rot through probably too, the engine produces water and this will sit in the pipes and muffler. Then after that the sensors for the computer and the relays would go due to the switching of current on and off.

A brand new car would run for weeks, until the viscosity of the oil becomes so bad, that the engine would cease up. You cannot change the oil of the car while running therefore it is the # 1 probable failure --> don't try this at home!!

I doubt any thing will happen because I have a tow truck and leave it on sometimes during the night but, maybe the alternator.
