i'm trying to swap my ecu w/ the same match numbers but i'm scared bec. it might introduce new faults to my car,is it true that since 1995 the majority of ECUs carry an identification/immobiliser code.?

I had just used my car for the weekend and came off the highway. I was waiting at the red light with the engine running and when the light turned green and I took my foot off the brake and pressed down the accelerator, the car engine stopped.
I wasn't able to start it but after a few tries it worked fine. It did that one more time but has not done that since (a week ago). I am glad it has not happened again but I have not fixed anything. Is there something anyone can suggest (i) is broken and I should get looked at (ii) what I should keep in mind so this won't happen again?

Hi all - I need to change the headlight bulb, have read the instructions and also some online stuff, I just can't seem to get the clip to move too much and I don't want to break anything. I know the clip pivots at the bottom, can anyone provide an accurate description of how to swivel it please? If anyone has a diagram (better than the one in the manual) that would be way cool. Thank you!

I have a 2000 Dakota w/3.9L engine. It was making a squeaking sound accompanied by an off-time knocking. I was told that it was a bearing in the AC compressor. OK, fine.

Today I was driving it and the squealing sound was really loud. I heard (and felt a pop), the engine started pouring out some bluish smoke, and the engine stalled.

I pulled to the closest parking lot and popped the hood - no more smoke, but the squealing was a bit more pronounced. While it wasn't speed sensitive before, it seems to be now. What's also strange is that the random knocking seems to have disappeared.

The squealing goes away entirely when I'm going faster than 40, but is at its worst at 25-30 mph. Guess what, I also drive a lot in residential areas, so this is really annoying. Additionally, the squealing comes and goes.

While I don't think that my truck is magic, the one problem seems to have fixed itself, while the other one got worse. Can anyone give me a good guess at what this is and what I need to?

Now that winter has come again, it reminds me on a strange phenomenum on my 1997 Acura 3.5RL: This is going on since 3 years! In summer (i.e. higher outdoor temperatures), the ABS light always comes on, usually together with the traction control light. Malfunction can be so bad that I need to turn off traction control altogether or else I can't get off the green traffic light.
In winter, however, all seems fine, both lights stay off, and traction control only flickers when it actually does its job.
As I said, this is now happening for 6 season cycles, repeatedly, and hasn't changed after a set of new break pads either.
The Acura Service said 3 years ago - and without much hesitation - that I need "a new computer" (of course! = $1500.-) but I'm not convinced (or prepared to pay to avoid some little inconvenience during summer).
Any "real" idea, or better, same experience and solution out there?

hello i have problem with my mitsubishi montero 2003 brakes it has new pads on it but when i drive and park my car it smells bad, what this probably cause and i took it to sears they said they need to replace my calipers and charged me $800 thats too much i think any idea whats the best i need to do..Thanks

so, here's the problem, sometimes when I am coming to a stop and put on the brakes, the car will stop once, then kinda squeek and lurch forward and skid a foot or so before coming to the 'real' and final stop...this only happens sometimes but it's not good when I'm at a stop sign or pulling out to turn and it lurches forward like that...what's going on? thanks for your help!!~

should I change thermostat or temp sensor or both?
coolant light comes on frequently for a while now even though the temperature would only get to the half way point when it warmed up. The fan would kick on when it got barely past the halfway point untill it got back below the half way point. Just yesterday the car is now running up to 3/4 point on the temp guage. whats the problem? whats the fix?

Hi I have a 74 F250 its 4 wheel drive w/390 engine I had the truck totaly restored the carb is an Edlebrock 4BBL and it has an electric choke and the elect choke was never connected....Can anyone tell me how its done. I am having customers fill out a form. The form asks for Year, Make and Model. People are putting Nissan Sentra or Mitsubishi Gallant for example. I need to know if it is a Sentra, Sentra S, Sentra SE-R or a Sentra SE-R Spec V. What could I put with Model to get the customer to put the additional information I need?

I would love to just drop the bottom hose and drain it........but the lower hose only goes down half way of the radiator!!! there is a plastic looking device on the passenger side of the radiator but it wont turn either way? does anyone know where it is? its driving me crazy!
