Hello, I had some work done on my 1997 nissan 200sx such as changing a new battery. About a day later my car failed state emmissions test. The inspector says this happens alot when you disconnect the battery cable on a car and you may have to drive the car for a while such as 50 to 100miles so the computer can relearn itself. Is this true?

I haven't even owned it one year and it only has 158,000kms. It has recently started knocking. The knock is more of a higher pitched knock (metal on metal sounding) and sounds like it is coming from the top end. The knock stays the same whether it be cold or warm and only goes away when the clutch is in. I would just like to know what some possibilities of it being are. I've been told already it could be something to do with the piston or tie rods.. help!

Do the Lube Techs have to pay for their own fluids such as oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, etc. at a dealership, and only get paid something like 3/10 of an hour for each oil change? If only one person comes in for an oil change, they only get paid for the 3/10 of hour for the entire day.

Hi I have a '99 Chevy Prizm. I live in Florida so the weather in "winter" still is like 60's maybe down to 50's on a random night. I am having problems starting my car. Not just in the morning, but everytime I need to start it: morning, after class, night, whatever. I use a COPY of the original Chevy key (because the original wont hang on to a keychain, the rubber end broke), but I still have the original if needed. When I turn the ignition, all i get is a loud "click" sound like someone tapped some metal with a stick..so it's more like "ting" and will repeat the sound till I release the key back from the start position. Well this started about 2 months ago and has not stopped being a problem. I just keep turning the key again several times and then one lucky time it will finally start up again. Occasionally, it will give a false start; I will hear the engine turn over partially but no luck. Most of the time it will take me 5-15 tries to get the car to start. Once its on its fine tho!

I filled up my Pontiac 01 grand prix today and drove 35 miles, when I went to crank car it sputtered and started to go dead when I pushed the gas pedal. It wouldn't move the car without jerking. My boyfriend changed the spark plugs but didn't fix it. It runs fine on the interstate just when it's idling it's like it's fighting for it's last breath. Could I have gotten bad gas? Or is a gas filter problem or pump problem? I've had BAD EXPERIENCE with mechanics in my town and can't rely on any of them without spending a FORTUNE. Any one have any advice, please!!!

I can't start my car, usually after driving it (even for a short time). I have to wait a couple of hours to start it again. When I turn the key there is no sound, nothing. Battery seems to be ok - the lights work fine. As I said there is no sound when I turn the key, nothing happens. After a couple of hours it starts again with no problems.

I'm getting a 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L for a work truck for dirt cheap and I would like to build the engine a little. Its comes stock 150 HP.
Does anyone know how many horses I can gett out of it with just
bolt-on performance parts? I have a 4.6L but I'm saving it for something else. I carry some heavy tools in my truck so I need more muscle...like over 200 HP if its possible. I'm not looking to put a turbo charger on it, at least not yet.

Ford service technician indicated that my check engine light indicates that cyl #6 has failed. It appears my choices are rebuild the engine for $2000 or go for a new engine for $3000. Any opinions on this? Do I have any other choices? I hate to put this kind of money into the vehicle with 120,000 miles.

This just started this afternoon The dogs were jumping on and scratching my car. when I opened the hood I saw a squirrel scury into the deeper areas of my car.

I then went for a fast ride in hopes that it would scare it out.
But when I came back I could tell it was still in there by the way the dogs were acting. I put the car behind a gate so my dogs would not damage it.

I can also see where the squirrel has been chewing in the engine compartment.

I saw a lot of ads in ebay that features twin carburetor engines.

what is it's purpose?

it does not prouce greater power, right?

is it in the acceleration?

or fuel consumption?

I have a 1.3 L engine DOHC with 16 valves, it only produces 87 hp @ 6,500 rpm.

If I install a turbo charger, ofcourse it will have a greater power, but what about the fuel consumption?

does it really mean that with great power comes with great responsibility?
