Well, in oder for a full explanation, I will give you a basic rundown on how both work.

Disc brakes work when the pads squeeze the rotor with enough friction to stop the car. Drum brakes work by pushing the brake shoes outward against the inside of the drum. The easiest analogy I use is your hand and a friend. Imagine your hand is the braking system, and your friend is the force trying to keep the car moving. Take your hand and spread your fingers. Now hold them apart as hard as you can and have your friend take their hand and squish them together. Now take the same hand and put two fingertips together and hold them together as hard as you can, now have your friend try to pull them apart. As you can no doubt tell, it is much easier to keep them squeezed together rather than keep them held apart. Same thing goes for your brakes. It is much easier to squeeze disc pads together than to spread drum shoes apart.

Hope that helps some.

Most cars use 4 wheel disc, not necesarily expensive cars have 4 wheel disc, my wifes VW Beetle has 4 discs.... better stopping power because discs are air cooled better, drums heat up causing drum fade, the brakes dont grab as well.

I trust more on Drum Brakes but disc brakes are more stylish and also the advantage is that when servicing the brakes its easier if you have disc brakes! dum brakes contain too many mechanisms?? did i spell that right?

Advantage of disc brakes..Cheaper,far better stopping, more reliable parts and less likley to leak fluid, easyer to maintain, less working parts.

Remember cheaper means less cost due to failure.

Yes, disc brakes have more stopping power, are lighter, and run cooler.

They stop better, they don't fade when they get wet, they clean them selves and they are easier to change.
