20W50 and 5W30 are newer grade suitable only for cars newer than 2001. Back then they used good ol' 10W40. Check your owners manual.

Well. If you motor is orignal and has over 100,000 miles and does not burn oil then you are good to use 10w 30, or 10w 40.But if you car burn oil like for example 1 quart two weeks then you should use 20w 50, because the differents between all these oil if the thickness of oil weight. 20w 50 is thicker and will burn slower than the lower grade weight.That if you have burning oil again. 5w30, try to buy the cheap stuff too, to reduce the chance of leaking do to the cleaners in the more expensive stuff, like sythetics. The cleaners will cause bad gaskets that have been plugged up by dirt to leak. Becaus it cleans the dirt away. Just because oil is expensive doesn't make it better than cheaper oil. Ya gotta shop around.
