Its a 90's car.. A jeep cherokee. My car does not turn on. First I though I was low in gas. But thats not it. I don't think its the battery. Do you think its because I left the car with out a cap?

On newer cars, the check engine light will turn on if the gas cap is loose. I found that out the hard way: a wasted trip to the dealer.

the fuel tank filler cap or gas cap will allow vapors to escape from the fuel tank and on newer cars it will cause a check engine light to ignite and possibly cause the vehicle's computer to run in save mode, resulting in lower gas mileage and poor performance.
