Probably the alternator, You can start the car and when the car is running disconnect the positive cable from your battery, If the car dies it's the alternator. Don't lean on the car or touch any medal when disconnecting the battery post that will be grounding yourself you mite get a shock.

Your alternator could be getting weak. If it won't restart immediately after shutting off it is your alternator. The reason it doesn't die once it is running is your car only uses your battery to start. Once your car is running it makes its own electrical power and if your alternator is working properly it recharges the battery. If your alternator isn't working properly then it doesn't recharge your battery making it appear as if your battery is draining as it sits.

most often there is a draw on the charging system, like the dome light staying on after you shut the truck off or even the under hood light (if your car has one) staying on even if the bulb is out the same is true if the glove box has a light inside? check for a electrical draw on the charging system first . good luck

i own a repair shop, and somewhere on the vehicle it has a draw on it,id take it to a mechanic ,and just tell him to do a draw test on it,if hes a good mechanic he,ll know what this means ,and how to do it,,if he looks at you like he,s seeing a ghost take it some where else, someone out there knows how to do a draw test, that will find the problem, the mechanic will still have to do a little searching, but the test makes it easy, good luck,i hope this help,s.

something electronic is staying on when the car is off and draining the battery of it's charge. Dome light? (door not closed all the way) Trunk or hood light (either of these large panels not closed all the way) goofy trick new stereo system (large idiot fouled your electrical system)

i bet you alternator is shot when you are driving it wont matter but when you are parked it draws the energy away from the batter and then that is why your car wont start.

you may have a light that is staying on with out you knowing it. check the hood light. that is a usual suspect
