I'm praying this isn't like thousands of dollars or something.

My son ran over a curb in the Lancer and I think the axel is broken.

The tire AND the rim broke off the car. The metal piece that hooks the two wheels together is broken.

Did the tire come off the rim or did the rim come off the car? If the tire came off the rim its becaue you drove on a flat tire. If the wheel came off the car it is either because of...

1. The lug nuts came loose - not at all unheard of with alumimum wheels, rare indeed with steel wheels.

2. The wheel bearing failed.

Either way, get er' towed in and inspected.

Man, that sucks. Either your wheel bearings have failed (and it tore your brakes and all off of that wheel) or your wheel came unbolted. Won't be cheap to fix either, but it shouldn't be thousands. Depends on what all was torn up, but somewhere in the thousand dollar range - you could get lucky and only a hundred or two - it really depends in what all was broken.
