Maintenance & Repairs - January 2007

I own a 1995 Camaro, V-6. I was told it needed a new tort converter. I was also informed that i coud get a rebuilt transmittion cheaper and it would come with a tort conveter in the rebuilt transmission. I was wondering with out labor how much a rebuilt transmission would cost and how much a new tort converter would cost. Also where i should to perchase one. and which one is in my best interest to buy.

I am aware that this has every intention of becoming serious, but to what extent? It is between the C and the H but when I stop or slow down, it rather quickly goes to H. Help!

I went to Meineke @ 8:00am and got an OIL CHANGE. I thought they did a good job and paid no attention to it. But I did smell something funny when I left, so I thought that was the usual smell after changing the oil and that it would go away. Later I told my BF about it smelling like BURNT plastic?!?! He checked it out when he smelled it for himself and sure enough they forgot to put my OIL CAP back where it belongs! I have oil spattered everywhere under my hood. My oil level was completely... like NOTHING left in there. I drove my car all friggin' day long doing errands and when I came home to go up my hill my car would NOT make it... my lights and my car seemed to sound as if it were dying out! My bf said to put it in LOW GEAR and (that's when he checked my oil,under the hood) and he found our oil cap off and oil everywhere. I took Pictures and am DEFINATELY going to B * T C H them A $ $'s out!But what could've happened to my car? Any sites that give exact INFO. on PROPER oil change

The clutch is only 8 months old on my 89 Toyota Corolla LE.
Sometimes, it will not change gears easily. It acts as though I am changing gears without pushing the petal down to the floor completely. But other times it works fine. This only started two days ago. I have found that pushing the clutch petal down a few different times or ways (i have size 14 feet so sometimes using the toe part of my foot to ensure it is completely down works) gets it to work, but I don't want to hold up traffic at a light or accidentally grind my gears.

If you are a mechanic I'd love to know what you think this sounds like. Should I take it in to a mechanic? How much would estimate the repair cost? It deafinatly does not need a new clutch/transmission.

I have a 99 Ford taurus wagon .When i turn on the heat all i get is cold air .Coolent levels are ok.Had thermostat changed still no heat.????

I asked a few days ago about my car making noises similar to baseball cards in a bike only while accelerating. I had my father check out my car since he was a mechanic a while back. He said that the transmission and exhaust was just fine. He mentioned that since the car is a Mazda millennia S with a supercharged engine that it was being caused by my using the cheapest grade of gas and that by switching to premium would correct it. I have only been driving this car for a few days but since this ticking occurred I haven't notice any decrease in performance. I was just wondering if I could get a second opinion on his dianogis. Thank you.

remove the engine from the vehicle? And is the rebuild very involved? The problem I am having is the bus stalls as soon as it gets warm and kicks down....It also seems it drains the battery even though the generator pushes almost 12 volts. It seems to run strong when its cold. Everyone I talk to is saying its something internal , such as rings or valves , I'm not so sure though. Any info would be apprieciated. Thanks!

I noticed that the rubber axel boot on the inside of the Front Passenger side wheel was cracked open and grease was spattered all over the inside of the wheel and Brake caliper.
Any rough ideas on the cost to repair ?
And How bad is it to drive like this before it gets fixed ?

I just did a motor saw on a 3000gt VR4(twin turbo) and after installing the battery I am not getting any power what so ever. I checked all my connections, fuses, and made sure i had good connections to the terminals, as well as charging up the battery. I dont have a tester but I do get spark from the battery when I connect the terminals so I do kno it has some juice in it. When I put the key in and turn it, I get nothing at this point, no lights come on, no radio, no sounds, nothing. I am not sure what I could be forgetting? If any one has in intelligent ideas, any help would be great, Thanks...

My 1993 Polo failed it's MOT on two things! The TELL TALE lite on the dashboard, for the fog light AND the fof light itself. The switch feels "funny" compared to the other switches, so am guessing the switch is the problem? Does anyone know if replacing the switch is a job that NEEDS to be done by the garage, RE: electrics? Or is it something I could get my neighbour to do? He is great with repairs, but away until Tuesday, re-test due on Thursday!! SORRY, not that great on cars!!
