My Wife owned a Smart (3 cyl) ( and I own a Honda (4 cyl). both cars had two spark plugs per cylinder. my question is =
(1) What advantage does 2 spark/plugs give.????
(2) Do both plugs "fire" at the same time, or is there a minuscule time lag between "firing" ????
(3) Does It give a cleaner burn ????
(4) Have you any other interesting (to me anyway) comments/remarks on this type of arrangement ????
(5) Is the Alpha Romao "twin spark" a similar set-up
(6)THANK YOU

We got the outer shell of the door off, but there doesn't seem to be enough room between the welded frame of the door to get the window into the track (going in from the bottom). It does not appear that it will fit into the frame if we go in from the top

what would cause the cruise control to not hold a consistent speed/ it fluctuates very quickly up and down by 2 mph very annoying...turn it off van runs perfectly...best simularity to it is it feels just like your typical miss in a gasoline engine when it is on at 70 mph. or any speed setting. it has a new idm (injector drive module) it made no difference in problem.

Hi - my wife's well-cared-for Matiz (1999, 36k miles, one owner) has suffered a major problem with the gear lever. The gears have always been notchy - especially when cold - and yesterday morning when I started up and pushed it into first (cold) there was a very light crunch - the lever went all floppy and would not go into any other position than 1st or 2nd.

Can anybody suggest what the problem might be and how expensive or difficult it will be to fix? Might it be the 'selector' and is that an easy or difficult job to replace? I'm not a mechanic and will need to take it somewhere to get it fixed I think. Not sure where would be best - we are on the southwest outskirts of Bristol.

All feedback / answers very much appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Yesterday i was driving my car, a Neon 2004, and the check engine light came on, then the gears of the transmission will not change anymore.
I think it got stuck in 1st or 2nd gear.
The R, N and P gears still work fine.
I used universal type ATF, "Chrysler" compatible.
I overfilled it pass the "hot" limit in the stick, but just for like half an inch or so, and i leave it like that. I measured the level with the engine hot, running and in park position.

I just need some advice from someone of you, so i have an idea of what to do and believe after hearing the mechanic's diagnostic of it.
Here is a tip that might give a better idea of the problem.
Before this happened, the car moved like half an inch forward while waiting for the stop light, like if you get hit from behind, but not too violent. Just a push... this happened like 3 times before over the month, until this last time yesterday. The same push activated the check engine light and then no more transmission the next second. Thx!

I had to call a certain tow truck company to pick up my car and I was told by the driver when they got there (almost half-an-hour later than I was told) that it would cost $50 JUST TO HOOK UP MY CAR, and then I would be charged $5 per mile: I think that's highway robbery!! What do you think?

I have replaced the carburator with a remanufactured one. It the same exact one. The car runs great when warm to hot and its perfectly driveable. But when it first started in the morning it will have a slight miss when put into gear and it stalls too. and I have checked the timing. its about 35 to 40 degrees BTDC this is without jumpering the A B terminals for retreaving codes. the pulley mark is not even close to the scale. It says 20 degrees BTDC for the chart on the hood. I have replaced all the vaccum lines and the car does stall when I cover the Carb with my hand over it so there is no vaccum leak.
I have tried adjusting the mixture screws 1 1/2 turns out from its seating point. And 3 turns and 3 3/8 turns. still no change.
The carburator is Quadrajet with 2 eletrical connections. 4 barrel on a v8 307. It has new wires and Plugs, cap and rotor they worked just fine until the new carb was installed. it also had terrible gas mileage with the old carburator.
