We got the outer shell of the door off, but there doesn't seem to be enough room between the welded frame of the door to get the window into the track (going in from the bottom). It does not appear that it will fit into the frame if we go in from the top

to replace the window you need to buy a door trim tool remove screws for door handle and lock take the tool pop off the inside door cover lift cover straight up and out// under that ire 3 pop rivete that hold the electric window roller in// this has to be removed to get to the slides and glass then with care and a pair of gloves slide window slide and motor upward // then with slide halfway up reach your hand under and inside the door take the nut off slide then pull slide rest of way out // lots of work better to call mechanic

eliminate the door panel and window safeguard etc.momentary refit window safeguard and wind the regulator down till you notice the two bolts that carry the glass on the backside and eliminate them.placed the recent glass in at an perspective from the exterior and then sq. it up into the window publications.Then slide it down till the bolt holes line up with the glass and the regulator.and placed the bolts back in.Wind it up and refit panel etc.wish this facilitates

i have changed out glass in other vehicles, not saturns, but shouldn't you remove the INSIDE door panel to replace the glass?
if you meant the inside, outer shell, sorry.

be sure you have the right glass for that application. be sure you have it turned the right way (not upside down)
