Keeping the truck tuned up and the air filter changed regularly will help somewhat to increase fuel economy. A proper fuel system cleaning can do wonders as well. Also check to make sure tires are properly inflated. Using the manufacture recommended octane rated fuel helps also. Other things you may try are using the heater and not the defroster. Using the defroster actually turns on the A/C compressor causing a loss of fuel economy. It is important to run the defroster occasionally in the winter time. This helps keep A/C system gaskets and O-rings lubricated and prevents them from drying out and causing freon to leak out. Clear the windshield with the defroster and then switch it to heater function. Driving with windows rolled up also helps, less wind drag. This should help you.
