My car: BMW E34 M50.

I just drained the transmission fluid and refilled it
with new transmission fluid by the following
procedure:
1) open drain plug, drain all, put the drain plug back
2) open refill plug, refill until fluid overfloat from
the fill plug, and put the fill plug back
3) start the car, put transmission in R, N, D for few
seconds, and back to N, reopen refill plug and fill
more until fluid overfloat from the fill plug, and put
the fill plug back

But after that, I started my car, and couldn't get it
shifted above 2 (about 30 miles). I could nitice the
transmission shift between R, N, D1 and D2 very well.
But it couldn't shift from D2 to D3. I tried M1, M2,
M3 and S1, S2, S3. Both M1/M2 and S1/S2 runs well,
but still couldn't shift to 3.

Is there any step that was missing?

Thanks in advanced.

I made a left turn onto a side street and my car slid on ice very hard into the curb on the passenger side. After this happened my car alignment seemed to be off. There was an unusual steering feel--stiffer than it used to, and the wheel did not return to the center position when released. The steering wheel is now ****** to one side when the front wheels are pointing straight ahead. I took it to an auto body to be looked at, and was wondering how bad it might be. Do you think it might be an easy alignment, or could it be more severe. If more severe, what are other things that could possibly happen after hitting a curb like that?

Thanks for your input!

My coolant light came on in my car and I just want to know if I can still drive it a few miles before replacing the coolant, or if I should not drive it anywhere.

Few months ago my SUV was overheated, turns out that the hose connecting to the coolant tank came loose. The tow driver told me that he can reconnect the hose and put in some water and I can go back on the road again, but I had my SUV towed to the dealer anyway, after I got it back it drives just fine for the past 3 months, this past weekend, we went to skiing and the temp reached about 10F at night, after a day of skiing we drove the car to Reno, about 6 miles from our hotel the car broke down, the SUV was telling me that the Coolant level is low and the engine is overheating, I thought the hose came loose again, but when I touch it the hose was rock hard, it seems like the coolant was frozen due to low temp, but I thought the coolant supposed to be antifreeze! When the tow truck drive came he told me that maybe the repair shop just put water instead of the antifreeze. My question is if that is the case, is my SUV’s engine gone be okay (we drove only about 6 to 8 miles)? Thank you.

Alldata is a software that most automotive shops use for repairs and anything automotive. I'm just wondering out of the blue how much this software costs? I don't own a shop, or think of owning one, maybe my brother would be though...unsure..

Thanks!

I have a '02 Isuzu Rodeo where my fuel sensor is bad, my gas gauge doesn't work, and I was told I need to repair or replace the exhaust manifold. So not only do I not know how much gas I have, I am using more than I should be as well. What would reasonable repair costs be, as I do not want to get taken advantage of.

About 15 months ago, I took my car to Midas and got new pads and rotors. Cost about $800. Recently, the brakes started squeaking, and now grinding. I'm taking my car to a tire/brake shop tomorrow. What can I expect? I know it's not my rotors, as there is NO vibration or shaking whatsoever. So, when the mechanic comes back and says that all of the pads and rotors need to be replaced, can I tell him he is an idiot? Can't they rotate rotors, and just replace the pads? Should this just be the front, or all 4? Any estimate on how much this will cost?

It's a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. Manual Transmission. Low mileage.

I sunk the nose of my 2000 dodge into a water hole this weekend. past the headlights and an angle which water stopped at mid front doors(at the bottom). after being snatched out i realized i had no reverse...then no drive!!! After i let it sit for a few minutes i got it back but not for long, drove for 5 miles, against my better judgement. Obvcourse sinking it was against it too :)

Found pepto bizmol in my transmission, oil a little milky too.
Also looks like trans front pump is now leaking. Has anyone recovered without replacing/rebuilding trans? and can the Average very mechanically inclined mechanic(with a manual) rebuild?

Would anyone have any idea why this would be happening? A car generally shouldn't just stall out after starting up. After I try it a second time it has always kept running just fine. Is this an indication of some underlying problem with my car?

I have a 2003 Corolla ascent that the central locking now doens't work properly.

Batteries have been checked.

As you push the remotes the light still goes.

The car locks do nothing.

If you hold the remote directly under the steering wheel, the locking system works, but as soon as you move the remote further away, it will no loonger work.

Is there something wrong with sensors?

PLEASE HELP! Problem occurred just out of warranty and Toyota won't quote me on it as they can't pinpoint problem without chargable time.

Cheers

I've been told the heater control valve is stuck open or the heater core is bad, but I have heard there is a vacuum hose that could be bad.

i have a 95 oldsmobile surpreme and my low coolant light keeps coming off and on. sometimes it just stays on and sometimes it doesn't come off at all. I popped the hood and my overflow tank is full, so there fluid isn't leaking out. no visible drips or puddles on the ground when sitting for long periods. Could it be possible that the fluid isn't going from the overflow tank to the radiator, therefore the sensor is thinking the radiator is empty? I just filled the radiator the other day and it's still coming on (the light). any ideas?
