Well I think you mean a chevy lumina. Now a real common problem with oil leaks is coming from whats is called a distributor shaft cover. It is a cover that plugs the hole where the distributor could have gone if you had one but you probably have a DIS system on here. Anyways if you are not mechanicly inclined you will need to take to a repair shop since you are gonna need to remove the lower plenum gasket along with the front valve cover but at t his point you might as well do both of them and it is the only way to get access to the cover. The cover is on the driver side near the back on top of the engine. The way it leaks down it can fool someone to assume it is the rear main seal. Good luck buddy and if this was helpfull let me know at j001solis001@yahoo.com. Also this repair is not cheap. You may be looking anywhere from $400 to $700 dollars depending on the hourly rate and parts. Anyways if you are not sure have it checked out before deciding to do the work to be sure.

first you have to find the leak. Warm your car up, drive it up the street to a store or something then back and park it in a spot that doesn't have any oil spots in it. Shut the car off and just wait about 15 minutes then go look under your car for the oil spot it will help you find the area of the leak. then just trace it from there. could be anything, stripped oil plug, filter not tightened or the filter seal could be broken, head could be leaking, a gasget some where or a seal it's hard to say with out knowing more. If there is not oil spot under your car look again in about 30 min. It could also be that your car is burning oil too. Does your exhaust look bluish grey when you turn the car on or do heavy driving. If you can't see it in you mirror get someone else to look. Hope it helps

Alot of things 'could' cause oil leaks. If you want to know where its coming from right now in your car you have to do a little detective work. Start by washing the motor. Either pay to have it steam cleaned or buy a can of Gunk Engine-Brite, hook up a garden hose and follow directions on the can. Now sweep the area where you will park it and put down clean newspaper or cardboard. The next morning, you should be able to locate your leak pretty quickly by climbing under the car with a flashlight. Its probably something that needs to be taken apart and re-assembled with fresh gasketing.

What the hell is a '95 FORD Lumina? The Lumina is made by Chevrolet. What kind of oil leak? Are there any other symptoms besides the leak itself?

Oil is used and pumped throughout the engine, so techincally it could be leaking from any number of places.

Common locations: From the lower edges of your valve covers, from around your oil filter, loose drain plug, timing chain cover, etc...

Sometimes you just need to wash the engine, so that you can see the fresh leak. While the engine is cold spray it down with something like Simple Green detergent and rinse with water sprayed lightly. I wouldn't power wash, as this might force water somewhere you don't want it. You aren't going for spotless, here. Just trying to clean it up enough so that a fresh leak stands out.

AFter it's clean, drive it to warm it up and then take a look. This should make it easier to see, and you might need a flashlight.

I thought Lumina was made by Chevy not Ford, and the leak could be from a gasket or seal.

Somewhat is either worn or broken. :-)

Difficult to guess with so little information. Oil circulates for all around moving parts of the engine and transmission and is kept inside by a series of gaskets and oil seals. Gaskets can break and oil seals get worn, allowing the oil to leak out. You or your mechanic will have to trace the oil leak to its origin from its dripping point up.

God !!!, The car is 12 years old, Of course it has oil leaks.

Now are you worried about the stuff that drops on the driveway, Which means gaskets need replacing. or do you mean you are going through lots of oil, which means you are burning oil and need an engine overhaul, New rings, possibly oversize pistons.. If you just have drops of oil on driveway, leave it alone, , if burning oil, start looking for another vehicle cause this one is to old to spend a lot of money on.

i might initiate with ask your self absorbers or struts, counting on your automobile. in the adventure that your automobile has greater suitable than 60-75,000 miles this may be a sturdy beginning factor. Shocks and strut overall performance starts to become worse after this mileage.
