I have a 2003 Corolla ascent that the central locking now doens't work properly.

Batteries have been checked.

As you push the remotes the light still goes.

The car locks do nothing.

If you hold the remote directly under the steering wheel, the locking system works, but as soon as you move the remote further away, it will no loonger work.

Is there something wrong with sensors?

PLEASE HELP! Problem occurred just out of warranty and Toyota won't quote me on it as they can't pinpoint problem without chargable time.

Cheers

The batteries have been tested by 2 different businesses, including Toyota.

The remotes work, but only if I am holding the remotes under the steering wheel.

probably the antenna for the alarm got unplugged or knocked loose, since range is such an issue, it's like trying to talk to a walkie talkie with no antenna on it

Try using the key! It is the shiny thing you stick in the ignition. Here is how it is done. 1. Take key out of pocket 2. Insert key into hole in door 3. turn key to the right 4. turn key left till it is straight up and down again 5. remove key by pulling 6. open door I know it is much harder than pushing a button but you will be A OK!

I've had this problem arise at work n there's 2 ways to fix this, 1 is to reprogram the key with a Toyota Scanner Which ur dealer can do for A price, 2 is the old school way - get in it car n keep the driver door open - insert key in the ignition - take key out of ignition (just key in n out don't try to turn on radio) - key in - key out - close door - open door - close door - open door - key in - key out - close door - open door - close door - open door - key in - close door - turn the key to the "on" possition but don't start car - key off n key out - at this moment u should hear the doors lock n unlock automatically, right after this u should immediately hit both the "unlock" n "lock" buttons on ur remote then hit "unlock" button success! If this doesn't work just email me ur type n year of car so I can give u the correct 1 for that specific vehicle. Try this a few times so u get the rhythim of it

I'd replace the batteries anyway as I don't know what you mean by "checked". Otherwise it may be that your remote unit is defective, or may have gotten wet.

Your gonna have to lay on the ground and get dirty to change the bulb. Unless you get someone else to do it for you.
