I have a '02 Isuzu Rodeo where my fuel sensor is bad, my gas gauge doesn't work, and I was told I need to repair or replace the exhaust manifold. So not only do I not know how much gas I have, I am using more than I should be as well. What would reasonable repair costs be, as I do not want to get taken advantage of.

i called isuzu and they told me that only the onboard diagnostic computer or the catalytic converter would be covered up to 80k miles or 8 yrs. other items MAY be covered but only up to 3 yrs 50k, right now i am at 76k. is this right or do they just not want to fix it??

I have a 1999 Rodeo LS V6 and have had the fuel sending unit problem already.

The fuel sending unit is a common problem on the rodeo and will be covered under you warranty as long as you are still under warranty. That will fix the gas gage problem at no cost to you. If you are not under warranty any longer and they will not cover it, be advised, that is a $100+- part. You can find someone else to do the work a lot cheaper than the dealer. I did it myself, but it is a bit of work. You have to drop the gas tank, since the fuel pump and fuel sending unit are on top of the gas tank. But once you have it down it just plugs in. If I remember Isuzu wanted around $350 plus parts to do the job.

As for the exhaust manifold, wow! Check with your warranty coverage. An exhaust manifold is expensive for the imports. I would recommend repairing it if it is not covered by your warranty and then looking in a parts yard for a used one in good shape. Do not do this through the dealer. They will always cost more. Find a muffler shop in your area and have them weld the manifold. This will work as a temporary fix. Once you find a replacement, you can have them replace the manifold and connect it to your existing exhaust with no problems.

the fuel level sensor in tank should take about 2 hours to fix with an approx cost of $300 at the dealership including parts. the exhaust manifold should take between 3-4 hous depending on left or right side. I cant guess on parts because I dont know if you need the manifold or just the gaskets. I would be curious as to why you would need a manifold????

You would be wist to call the dealer here. There is a TSB for this model that requires the replacement of the sensor and reprogramming for the computer.
If the car has less than 100K, it might be covered under the EMISSIONS warranty. The car must be able to test the evaporative emissions system regularly, and in order to do that, it must know how much fuel is in the tank. If the sensor is inoperative, it can't test itself.
That would require an emissions warranty repair.

Sound like there is also a Blow head gaskets. I could concerner have them performed as good. Replace the T stat. If it the consumption I am suppose approximately. There is plenty of labor to get to it. That why I wouls do the heads as good. There is just a couple object to take off. Or you'll placed it again in combination and wish it stops the over heating. If it does now not you'll be take the whole thing aside once more. And paying all over the place once more. It rely at the store exertions price. It within the core of the ballpart.
