i drive a Fiat Punto, over last week it has been struggling to start (especially when cold). When I turn the ignition the engine does not turn over and I can hear a whineing sound which I think is the starter motor? I don't think it will be the battery as I only changed that last year..

I can get car started after a few attempts. I want to know if this is something I can easily fix myself, or what needs done.

Cheers

1990 Dodge van with a 360 that uses about a quart of oil per tank of gas. If I check the compression and it's ok then replacing the valve quides should fix it right? I've replaced the PCV valve already.

Im not a genius with cars but i know my way around under the hood. And dont want to waste the money taking it to my mechanic that charges an arm and a leg just becuase it is a Honda and i dont like letting anyone else touch my car.

When a person takes a car to an auto repair shop for an estimate where does the mechanic get information on how many hours it is supposed to take to do a certain job? This is called "real time" correct? And is there an online site that I can look up this information for free? I want to start an automotive repair shop and have a mechanic, but I need to know if this info is available online or do I have to sign up with a company like Alldata? I was also wondering if you can get free schematics online also. Or is being a member of something like Alldata the best thing to do?

Recently I hit a curb and my tire on front right blew out. got it repaired and now I hear a humming and slight vibration only when I turn right which sounds like it is coming from the left side. Anyone know what this could be and how much a possible repair could be?

1. The car will not start (or turn) if it sits for more than a day.
2. The battery has been replaced.

I was told bolts had to be removed and would be charged extra time to do this at a local NTB shop. They charged roughly $62 extra for .8 hr. I was told of this ahead of time and had chance to decline. I was only in shop a total of an hour.

The smoke is black and appears to be coming from the front/ top of the engine. The vehicle is a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant.

I haven't tried to drive it again since, does this sound like a faulty installation or should I expect more repair costs. I appreciate all of your help out there in Yahoo land.

I've just purchased a 1992 Honda Accord LX (127,000) it does not leak any oil or any other kind of fluid. It seems to be running fine now. Just wondering with proper maintenance how long should I expect it to last. One more thing is there any way to know for sure it the original engine was replaced? Seller informed me that he replaced original engine 4 years ago, odometer read 265,000 miles. I appreciate any feedback, thank you.

I have a 95 cavalier. The car runs great aside from having to replace the starter since I got it I have had no problems...very reliable. I noticed a while ago (probably a year or so) that my coolant light came on, so I filled her up. Several months down the road the light came on again so again I filled her up. The problem is now the light keeps coming on quite frequent (anywhere from 3-5 days, so I keep filling it up). I can see the leak on the engine (nothing is coming out of the rad). There is no smoking, oil leaking or anything. Does this sound like a head gasket problem? Is it worth it to get it fixed (as it has been going on I guess for about a year)? Any ideas how much that type of repair job would cost?

For the last couple of days, it's been cold- 20s 30's, with snow. yesterday, the snow on my car melted off, but now there's a thick coating of ice. I tried to start my car this morning to warm it up while scraping the windshield, but it just made a sort of clicking noise when I tried to turn it on. Please help me, this is my first car, so I'm kind of clueless...
