For the last couple of days, it's been cold- 20s 30's, with snow. yesterday, the snow on my car melted off, but now there's a thick coating of ice. I tried to start my car this morning to warm it up while scraping the windshield, but it just made a sort of clicking noise when I tried to turn it on. Please help me, this is my first car, so I'm kind of clueless...

Your battery is dead. Get someone to give you a jumpstart, then go to an autoparts store and have your battery tested. You will need a new one every 3-5 years, depending on your location and the quality of the battery you buy.

a.) clean and regrease the battery terminals... (ALWAYS TAKE OFF THE NEGATIVE FIRST AND PUT IT BACK ON LAST, or youll get electricuted.. and from what i hear that sucks..)
b.) if that dont work... then either your battery is dead (most likely)

- or your alternator died (they are random as h&&l and one day they will work 100% and the next they are dead and your left clueless)
- if not that your ignition switch might be no good...

try jump starting your car.. if that works your battery is prolly dead... in which case you should go buy a new one...

sounds like loose terminals and possibly a dead battery. take the battery out, charge it,clean the terminals and put the fully charged battery back in. spay anti corrosion spray on the ends after you put them on and tighten them down.don't forget to check the antifreeze and oil as well as all the other fluids(brake, power steering, washer fluid,. transmission fluid).
