You definitely get what you pay for. And the price they quote on TV is just for the paint job, it isn't for the prep or taping, sanding, etc.
My advise to you is to take your vehicle to different places and go with the estimate you can afford. Talk to friends and co-workers too about who they have used in the past.

On their lesser priced jobs, Maaco does very little prep work. Prep work is the key to a good paint job. If the surface is not properly sanded and cleaned, and if all the small dents are not repaired, you are not going to be happy with the work.
A $199 paint job may not even last a year. But when properly prepaired, a more expensive paint job can last 15-20 years. My grandfather had Maaco paint a car for him. He paid around $600, and the paint was still good after 6 years, when he sold the car.
You get what you pay for....

I haven't personally had a car painted by Maaco, but friends and family that have were very unhappy with the job. They experienced problems from paint chipping, to interior areas like door jams completely missed.
I suppose it depends on the vehicle you are having painted - if the car is only worth a couple of thousand to begin with, Maaco will give you a cheap paint job that will look good enough. If the car is worth more, a bad paint job can actually decrease its value...

yes I had body work and paint done at Maaco in Denver Colorado...they used aluminum tape over the rust and filled it with body filler after I asked them to put in new metal. when it rusted out they put in the metal as I had requested...then they repainted the box on the truck and it did not match the rest of the truck...
I would not take an old lawn mower to Maaco to be painted!! I would not recommend them to anyone...they take the cheap way out and do not deliver what they say....and I was supposed to get the most expensive paint process they had...
